HiTHIUM Unveils Next-Generation Integrated Sodium-Ion Energy Storage Solutions

HiTHIUM Introduces Integrated Sodium-Ion Energy Storage Solution

On September 16, 2026, HiTHIUM, a prominent player in energy storage technology, held a product launch event titled “Powered Day in, Day out” where it unveiled its next-generation integrated sodium-ion energy storage solution. This includes the new ∞Power N4.0 MWh, a 4 MWh sodium-ion energy storage system equipped with the high-capacity sodium-ion battery known as ∞Cell N785Ah. Starting in 2027, HiTHIUM plans to begin mass production and delivery of these innovative solutions, which boast an estimated lifespan of 30 years, making them ideal for infrastructure-level applications utilizing sodium-ion batteries.

HiTHIUM is advancing sodium-ion technology by transitioning it from a validation phase to widespread application, leveraging its integrated expertise in materials, cells, manufacturing, system integration, station applications, and lifecycle services. According to Dr. Nazar Yi, Chief Technology Officer of HiTHIUM, "Energy storage technologies must overcome two hurdles to achieve large-scale deployment: affordability and availability." With sodium being abundant and widely distributed, supply security and stability of supply chains can be ensured.

The firm has relied on its extensive R&D capabilities, manufacturing processes, quality assurance, and supply chain development in creating sodium-ion batteries—from fundamental materials to applications in charging stations. Dr. Aileen Wang, Director of the Battery Research Institute, stated, “We started with the most basic chemical and material science principles and traced the 30-year development of lithium-ion batteries.” This philosophy fueled HiTHIUM's integrated innovation approach in cell design and manufacturing processes, yielding the sodium-ion battery “∞Cell N785Ah” for energy storage, which features an impressive lifespan of 20,000 charging cycles, supporting storage durations of 2 to 8 hours, and is fully compatible with HiTHIUM's 1,000 Ah lithium-ion manufacturing platform—all of which allows for rapid expansion of sodium-ion battery production capacity.

The ∞Power N4.0 MWh stands out due to its unique sodium-ion architecture, which incorporates a stacked cell design, a specialized battery management system (BMS) boasting a state-of-charge (SOC) estimate accuracy of ≤2.5%, and compatibility with 800–1500 V PCS. The rated power utilization of the PCS has increased by over 20% compared to HiTHIUM’s previous generation sodium-ion system, effectively lowering barriers to usage.

In optimizing system architecture, the footprint demand at stations has been reduced by 30%, achieving an overall efficiency exceeding 88% over a 24-hour period. The hybrid air-liquid cooling mode and AI-enabled thermal management utilize weather data to select energy-efficient cooling options, decreasing operational auxiliary power consumption by 30% and achieving a 50% reduction during standby. Thanks to HiTHIUM’s integrated technical competencies and a pre-modular design for simplified maintenance, the ∞Power N4.0 MWh boasts a remarkable lifespan of 30 years. Dr. Wang emphasizes, “30 years equates to 10,950 days of validation—a long-term commitment to our customers.” This longevity allows for the evaluation of electrochemical energy storage with respect to infrastructure lifespan.

HiTHIUM's sodium-ion technology expands from large-scale storage to commercial and industrial applications, homes, and enhancing energy accessibility, thereby creating integrated solutions tailored for various scenarios. Additionally, the company has launched the “∞Edge Pioneer Program” intended to rigorously test batteries and systems under extreme conditions, with updates on advancements over the next three years, aiming to gradually introduce the “∞Power Next Technology Packages for Extreme Environments.” These efforts aim to advance energy storage toward a levelized cost of storage (LCOS) of 0.1 RMB per kWh.

In summary, HiTHIUM's new sodium-ion storage technology represents a promising advancement in energy technology, setting the stage for future developments in sustainable energy solutions.
