Temu Triples Its Brand Coverage in Strong Intellectual Property Protection Effort

Temu's Growing Commitment to Intellectual Property Protection

Temu, a leading global e-commerce platform, has made significant strides in protecting intellectual property (IP) over the last year. According to its latest 2026 Intellectual Property Protection Report, the company has tripled the number of brands it actively monitors for IP compliance, now overseeing more than 15,000 brands. This aggressive expansion reflects Temu's dedication to providing a safe environment for both sellers and consumers.

Key Statistics from the Report

The report covers the period from June 2025 to May 2026 and offers compelling data on the effectiveness of Temu's IP strategies:
  • - The proactive removal of potentially infringing content on its platform shows an impressive 331 to 1 ratio compared to reactive removals, significantly up from 200 to 1 the previous year.
  • - With a database containing over 47 million images and 9.5 million keywords, Temu has increased its IP detection capabilities drastically—this marks a more than ninefold increase over the past year.
  • - Complaints related to IP issues are resolved in under 24 hours on average, showing a commitment to swift action.
  • - Engagement with more than 130 industry associations, nearly double from the previous year.

Proactive Measures and Screening Processes

Temu’s preventive measures begin at the onboarding stage. The company has rejected over 40% of new sellers due to failed verification processes and has terminated more than 16,000 stores for repeated IP violations. Each product listing is meticulously screened against Temu's extensive database before going live, ensuring that potential infringements are caught early.

In addition, the company has rolled out a feature to boost consumer awareness. Searches using terms like “fake” or “counterfeit” yield messages warning users about the dangers of purchasing such items, effectively blocking more than 80,000 search attempts daily.

Collaborating with Brands for Enhanced Protection

Temu has initiated the Brand Guardian Initiative (BGI), launched in April 2024, which encourages brands to work closely with the platform. This initiative integrates their IP rights into Temu’s monitoring systems, allowing for more effective early detection of infringements. Currently, over 3,000 brands, including around 500 small and medium-sized enterprises, benefit from one-on-one support and regular enforcement updates.

Moreover, Temu provides educational resources on IP compliance through its Seller Education Center, helping sellers understand the importance of adhering to IP laws and fostering a healthier marketplace.

Deepening Industry Ties

In a move that underscores its commitment to IP protection, Temu has joined forces with over 130 IP associations and is now a member of the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition. This collaboration is aimed at building a robust network to fight against counterfeiting and ensure the rights of legitimate brand owners are upheld.

“Strong intellectual property protection is fundamental for a healthy marketplace,” says a spokesperson for Temu. “We believe that by investing in people, technology, and partnerships, we can enhance the security and trust our consumers place in our platform.”

Looking Ahead

With its innovative approach and relentless focus on the protection of intellectual property, Temu is paving the way for a safer, more reliable e-commerce experience. This proactive stance is not just about compliance; it’s about establishing trust with consumers and supporting brand owners in maintaining their integrity online. As Temu continues to expand globally, its dedication to IP protection will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in its growth and success in the e-commerce landscape.
