Hitachi Joins Agentic AI Foundation for AI Security Standardization
Hitachi, Ltd., a leading Japanese enterprise, has recently become the first company in Japan to join the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) as a Gold Member. This action signifies Hitachi's commitment to promoting transparency and standardization within the realm of AI access management. As part of this initiative, Hitachi will actively participate in key projects, including the Model Context Protocol (MCP), to bolster the management of access permissions for AI agents interacting with data and applications.
The collaboration with AAIF aims to create a robust framework to help mitigate security risks associated with AI, such as unintended data leaks and the tampering of authentication information for AI agents. By establishing common standards for access management and authorization processes, Hitachi seeks to further the safe use of AI technologies across various sectors and industries, thereby driving innovations essential for solving societal challenges.
In addition to its involvement with AAIF, Hitachi continues to contribute to the Keycloak project. This project focuses on the unified management and control of complex data access issues in environments where AI agents operate. Through collaborative efforts, Hitachi has been pushing for the adoption of open protocols like MCP to advance standardization and practical applications in AI usage.
The foundation of Hitachi's next-generation solution suite, known as “HMAX by Hitachi,” leverages a vast amount of data obtained from both physical and digital assets. This initiative aims to enhance advanced technologies such as Physical AI and Agentic AI through Hitachi’s extensive domain knowledge. Moreover, by collaborating with leading partners across different industries, Hitachi aims to address intricate challenges in social infrastructure.
To promote transformative changes, including automating complex decision-making from operational to managerial levels via AI, ensuring safety based on unified rules for AI access management is crucial. Hitachi is committed to this goal within AAIF, standardizing specifications for AI access management, authentication, and authorization while collaborating with global partners to expand safe use cases for AI applications.
Looking ahead, Hitachi aims to utilize these initiatives to contribute towards a society where everyone can safely enjoy the benefits of AI technology. Jim Zemlin, Executive Director and CEO of the Linux Foundation, commended Hitachi's ongoing commitment to open-source initiatives, emphasizing its importance in building essential social infrastructures cooperatively. The entry of Hitachi as a Gold Member of AAIF is seen as a significant step towards fostering collaboration in the AI landscape.
