Huawei Unveils Innovative F5G-A Optical Solutions at MWC 2025



At the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, Huawei took the spotlight by unveiling four groundbreaking F5G-A optical solutions aimed at increasing connectivity and detection capabilities in various sectors. These advancements are set to propel industrial intelligence forward, catering to the growing demand for efficient and swift connectivity solutions.

During the keynote speech, Perry Yang, the President of Huawei's Enterprise Optical Domain, highlighted several key trends encapsulated in the '3 In 3 Out' approach. This methodology promotes a restructuring where fiber is introduced into networks while enabling a seamless transition out to various applications. For instance, Fiber-in Copper-out solutions are targeted at both home and campus networking environments, ensuring high-speed connections that meet contemporary demands.

One of the most noteworthy solutions introduced is the Fiber to the Home (FTTH) option, which supports economical and rapid network construction. In addition, Huawei launched various Fiber to the Room (FTTR) products to aid Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in achieving broad coverage and enhancing user experiences through higher bandwidth. The FTTO 2.0 solution for campus environments also saw significant upgrades, with bandwidth capabilities expanding from 10 Gbit/s to a remarkable 50 Gbit/s—facilitating greater efficiency in classrooms and other areas.

Further improvements included the introduction of optical terminals compliant with M45 installation standards in Europe and the Middle East, allowing for direct fiber connections in hospital setups without compromising aesthetics. Also, exterior optical access points were launched to extend connectivity from indoor to outdoor environments, making them ideal for school playgrounds and hotel pool areas.

On the operational front, the advancements are significant; previously, the Network Management System (NMS) could manage only one campus at a time, but now it can handle multiple campuses simultaneously, easing operational complexity in multi-tenant scenarios. Moreover, network deployment planning has transitioned from manual configuration to AI-driven automation, drastically reducing design times from two days to a mere hour.

For AI computing scenarios, Huawei revealed an optical lossless Data Center Interconnection (DCI) solution utilizing the OTN OSN 9800 K12 platform, which guarantees zero packet loss during Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) operations within data centers. Additionally, a compact and cost-effective perimeter inspection solution was introduced, aimed at small campuses like substations and oil and gas stations. This solution combines convergent detection technologies—such as fiber and video detection—alongside artificial intelligence algorithms for enhanced security and operational efficiency.

Looking ahead, Huawei is committed to ongoing innovation in optical technology. The company is eager to collaborate with global customers and partners to continue evolving the '3 In 3 Out' approach, thereby accelerating connectivity and detection advancements that will drive industrial intelligence to new heights.
