Quadric Appoints Ravi Chakaravarthy as New VP of Software Engineering
In a significant move for its engineering team,
Quadric Inc. has announced the appointment of
Ravi Chakaravarthy as Vice President of Software Engineering, effective immediately. This strategic addition aims to bolster the company's innovation in AI software development, particularly for its
Chimera™ AI processor technology.
Ravi Chakaravarthy brings a wealth of experience to Quadric, having previously led the development of
AMD's AI software stack, which encompassed applications for both datacenters and edge AI. His extensive expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) presents a perfect fit for the needs of Quadric, especially as the company aims to enhance its software capabilities.
During his six years at AMD, Chakaravarthy's leadership played a vital role in overseeing over 60 complex software projects during an era where AI technology rapidly evolved. Before his tenure at AMD, he also contributed to software development at industry giants such as Broadcom and Hewlett-Packard, allowing him to cultivate a diverse and interdisciplinary leadership background that spans both semiconductor and enterprise computing sectors.
Veerbhan Kheterpal, Quadric’s co-founder and CEO, expressed his enthusiasm about Chakaravarthy's joining, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Ravi to Quadric's fast-growing engineering team. His experience leading substantial AI compiler and software organizations is tailor-made for Quadric at this stage of our growth.” Kheterpal believes that Chakaravarthy's dual strength in both technical depth and leadership will produce valuable outcomes for Quadric and its clientele.
Chakaravarthy shared his vision upon joining, emphasizing his excitement about enhancing the Chimera graph compiler and the full software stack. He noted, “Quadric's core technology is truly unique in the evolving world of edge AI processing.” With Quadric's current offering supporting a wide array of AI models—five to ten times more than competing licensable NPUs—Chakaravarthy sees significant opportunities ahead, particularly in streamlining tools to assist customers in integrating models into Chimera-powered chips.
The
Quadric Chimera™ processor distinguishes itself as the only fully C++ programmable, licensable
AI/ML inference processor solution. This innovative architecture combines the energy efficiency typical of dedicated neural network accelerators with the flexibility characteristic of programmable technology. One of Quadric's key competitive advantages lies in its unified programming model, which seamlessly integrates neural network graphs with C++ code into one cohesive application.
As the demand for efficient AI processing solutions grows, Chakaravarthy's leadership is poised to propel Quadric forward, capitalizing on the existing momentum of their Chimera technology. The company currently reports design wins that cover a diverse performance range from
1 TOPS to 400 TOPS, with more clients engaging each month, presenting tremendous growth potential.
Founded as a pioneer in high-performance computing,
Quadric Inc. specializes in delivering General-Purpose Neural Processor IP (GPNPU) that can handle AI inference workloads alongside traditional DSP and control algorithms. Its hardware and software architecture is finely tuned for
on-device AI processing, providing an impressive peak performance of up to
840 TOPS across both commercial and automotive-grade standards. Quadric's commitment to innovation in AI technology keeps it at the forefront, making it an essential player in the semiconductor landscape.
