Jeri Hawthorne Steps into Role as Chief Human Resources Officer at Ascensus

Ascensus, a leading company in tax-advantaged savings solutions, has recently appointed Jeri Hawthorne as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). This strategic addition comes at a crucial time for the organization as it navigates significant transformation within its industry. Hawthorne brings with her a wealth of experience from her previous roles, making her an ideal candidate to guide Ascensus through this pivotal period.

Jeri Hawthorne joins Ascensus following her tenure at Aflac, where she served as the CHRO. Throughout her career, Hawthorne has consistently focused on enhancing both client and employee experiences, a mission that aligns perfectly with Ascensus' goals. David Musto, the Chair and CEO of Ascensus, expressed enthusiasm in welcoming her to the team, acknowledging the value her insights and leadership will bring as the organization evolves.

Prior to her role at Aflac, Hawthorne held several influential positions, including the Head of Human Resources for Campbell and Company, a North American quantitative hedge fund. Additionally, she contributed her expertise to Exelon, the largest energy parent company in the U.S., where she led teams focusing on talent and leadership development. Her experience is further complemented by prior senior HR positions at T. Rowe Price and the U.S. Pharmacopeia. Notably, she also worked in international human resource roles as part of her tenure with Novo Nordisk A/S while residing in Denmark.

Hawthorne's academic background consists of a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheeling Jesuit University and a Master of Science degree obtained from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom, which cements her comprehensive understanding of global HR practices.

As she takes on this new role, Hawthorne will succeed Amy Walker, who will remain with Ascensus until mid-September 2025 to facilitate a seamless leadership transition. Walker's contribution to the organization during her tenure has set a solid foundation for the next phase of growth, and Hawthorne's onset represents an exciting opportunity to further enhance Ascensus’ human resource strategies.

Founded with the vision of empowering individuals to save effectively for their future, Ascensus provides innovative solutions and services that reach nearly 16 million people. As a recognized leader in the retirement plan services industry, the company administers comprehensive qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, offers third-party administration, and maintains partnerships with governmental entities and private organizations to enhance tax-advantaged savings options for millions. As of June 30, 2025, Ascensus manages assets exceeding $892 billion and employs over 5,000 associates.

With a renewed focus on enhancing employee engagement and organizational culture, Jeri Hawthorne's leadership is poised to make a significant impact on Ascensus. The company aims to build on its commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience while fostering an inclusive and dynamic work environment. As the challenges and opportunities in the financial services landscape evolve, Hawthorne's role will be instrumental in navigating these changes effectively.
