BAUHAUS Teams Up with XYZ Robotics for Innovative Warehouse Automation

In a significant move to revolutionize logistics and warehouse management, BAUHAUS has partnered with XYZ Robotics to fully automate its goods receiving process at the central warehouse located in Krefeld, Germany. This collaboration signifies a leap towards enhanced operational efficiency through state-of-the-art technology, featuring innovative mobile manipulation robots designed to tackle real-world challenges in warehousing.

Transforming Warehouse Operations

BAUHAUS, a prominent name in the home improvement sector, oversees over 290 specialty centers across 19 European countries. The Krefeld facility manages a staggering volume of daily shipments across 10,000 distinct SKUs. Given the diversity in shape, weight, and sizes of cartons received, traditional automation methods have often fallen short. Recognizing these challenges, XYZ Robotics provides a comprehensive solution with its unique RockyOne and RockyOne SE robots.

The automation system is engineered to streamline the entire goods receiving process, starting from the shipping container right through to the shelf-ready pallets. RockyOne robots autonomously unload containers, efficiently sorting varying carton sizes using a sophisticated barcode scanning system that identifies each package in real-time. Once sorted, the RockyOne SE robot constructs pallets according to customized patterns, enabling smooth and efficient inventory management.

Addressing Workforce Challenges

Manual container unloading can often result in strenuous routine tasks that pose a high injury risk and contribute to increased staff turnover rates. By introducing the Rocky robots, BAUHAUS allows its employees to transition from physically demanding roles to more supervisory positions. Operators can monitor and manage the automated system through an easy-to-use tablet interface, significantly reducing the physical burden associated with manual labor. Torsten Winter, Vice President of Operations at BAHAG/BAUHAUS AG, emphasizes, "Since going live, the automation system has operated seamlessly around the clock without any need for manual intervention. Our team is now able to focus on important tasks that add greater value to our operations."

Future Collaborations Ahead

With the successful implementation in Krefeld, BAUHAUS and XYZ Robotics are now keen on exploring additional opportunities for automation across their network of stores and warehouses in Europe. This collaboration not only highlights BAUHAUS's commitment to innovation but also underscores XYZ Robotics' role as a key player in delivering advanced automation technologies.

Established in 2018, XYZ Robotics is globally recognized for its cutting-edge mobile manipulation robots that specialize in automating complex tasks such as truck unloading and case picking. As this partnership flourishes, both companies are looking forward to expanding their services and support for more warehouse and distribution operators, ensuring the continuity of efficient and optimized logistics.
