Kia America Breaks Sales Records in Q1 2026

Kia America has announced an unprecedented milestone for the first quarter of 2026, selling a total of 207,015 vehicles. This figure not only marks a record for the company but also represents a 4% increase from the same period last year. It demonstrates Kia's resilience and growth amid challenging market conditions.

The all-new Kia Telluride played a pivotal role in this achievement, witnessing a 20% increase in sales compared to the previous year, with 35,928 units sold in Q1—this stands as the highest quarterly sales figure in the model's history. Following its launch, the Telluride sustained strong momentum, achieving monthly sales of over 13,000 units for two consecutive months. Other models, including the Sportage, Carnival, and K4, also reached new first-quarter sales records, reflecting Kia's expanding popularity in various segments.

Kia's electric and hybrid vehicle offerings similarly saw significant gains, with hybrid model sales soaring by 73%, marking this the highest quarterly sales total for hybrids in the company's history. Electrified models experienced a 30% increase over the same timeframe last year, underscoring the growing shift towards sustainable options among consumers. This shift aligns with the brand’s commitment to expanding its offerings of eco-friendly vehicles.

Eric Watson, vice president of sales operations for Kia America, emphasized that the remarkable demand from customers has fueled this sales achievement. “Kia continues to see strong customer demand and steady growth, leading to our best-ever first quarter sales total,” Watson stated. The company’s continual investment in advancing its line-up, particularly with new models like the 2027 Kia Telluride, which is further expected to enhance performance with a new turbo-hybrid powertrain, signifies Kia's ambitious outlook for the future.
