The Innovative Shin Ibaraki Education Summit 2025: A New Era for Teachers
Amid growing concerns over excessive working hours in Japan's educational sector, a groundbreaking event focused on improving teaching conditions and enhancing learning opportunities is set to take place in Ibaraki Prefecture. Scheduled for August 7th and 8th, 2025, the
Shin Ibaraki Education Summit 2025 aims to bring together educators from across the nation to engage in transformative discussions and hands-on experiences. This summit is organized by the
Mori to Mirai no Gakkou Association in collaboration with
Earth Travel Mito Co., Ltd., marking it as the first of its kind in Japan.
A Call for Change: Addressing Teacher Fatigue
The educational landscape in Japan faces significant challenges, particularly the alarming trend of teacher burnout, with many educators averaging over 80 hours of overtime per month—exceeding the “death from overwork” threshold. In response, the Shin Ibaraki Education Summit is more than just a conference; it's a commitment to addressing these pressing issues through effective collaboration between educational entities, government bodies, and academic institutions.
Event Highlights: Transformative Learning Experiences
The summit promises to offer participants an enriching agenda, characterized by experiential learning and innovative programs. The event slogan, “Two Days of Learning as Passionate as Our Students,” emphasizes the depth and practical application of the gathered knowledge. Below are some of the key program elements that attendees can look forward to:
1. Cutting-Edge Entrepreneurship Experience (Day 1)

Additionally, speaker Keisuke Futagawa will lead a seminar titled “Sustainable Work Style Reform You Can Implement Now,” fostering a space for collaboration and dialogue among teachers from the Kanto region and Ibaraki.
3. Experience Tour of Ibaraki Educational Travel Programs (Day 2)
- - Attendees will have the chance to participate in hands-on experiences, such as workplace training in Kasama through the Shigototrip program (patent pending), and learn about making ume syrup and experiencing shirasu fishing, enriching the educational atmosphere for both teachers and their students.
