The Gold Ribbon Network, established under the leadership of Jun Isochika, is committed to creating a society where children affected by cancer can live without worry and wear their smiles confidently. To support this mission, they have officially opened applications for the 2026 fiscal year's Gold Ribbon Research Grant.
What is the Gold Ribbon Research Grant?
Since its inception in 2009, the Gold Ribbon Research Grant program has been a cornerstone of the Gold Ribbon Network's offering, focusing on enhancing pediatric cancer treatments and improving the quality of life for childhood cancer survivors and their families. The organization strives to achieve two primary objectives through its grants:
1. Improving the cure rate for childhood cancer.
2. Enhancing the quality of life (QOL) of childhood cancer survivors.
In 2024, the grants facilitated funding for 28 different research projects, amounting to a generous total of 24.9 million yen.
Grant Eligibility
This grant program is open to individuals and research groups affiliated with universities or research institutions in Japan. The research proposals must fall under one of the following categories:
- - Research aimed at improving the cure rate for childhood cancer.
- - Research focused on enhancing the quality of life for childhood cancer survivors.
The program aims to support between 25 to 35 research projects with a maximum grant amount of 3 million yen for each project. The funding period will be from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, spanning one whole year.
