SHIBUYA COP 2025: Bridging Generations for Climate Action
In an era where climate change is a growing concern, the
SHIBUYA COP 2025 event aims to unite the community in Tokyo to take actionable steps toward sustainability. Organized by the non-profit organization
SWiTCH, this event seeks to engage various generations and industries in a collaborative effort to address climate challenges. Set to take place on
December 5, 2025, from
5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the
Shibuya Scramble Square, the event promises to be a platform for vital discussions and sharing of innovative ideas.
Theme and Relevance
This year's theme,
“IN UNISON — Connecting Generations and Industries to Cool Down Shibuya,” comes amidst rising global temperatures. October averages in Tokyo have climbed nearly 5°C over the past century, presenting a profound challenge to the city’s culture and daily living. This event comes at a crucial moment, as Shibuya, a highly urbanized area with significant energy consumption, must pivot toward sustainable practices to combat climate warming.
SHIBUYA COP 2025 will also provide insights from
COP30, held in Brazil earlier in November, offering attendees the chance to learn from recent global climate initiatives. By connecting youth, businesses, and local governments, the event aims to inspire practical actions that contribute to cooling efforts in Shibuya.
