Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially announced its upcoming tournament, the
Taiko no Tatsujin Donkatsu Cup 2025/2026, for fans of the popular rhythm game series. This event is based on the equally popular title,
Taiko no Tatsujin: DonDaaful Festival, currently available on the Nintendo Switch™. An official tournament website has been launched, and participant entries are now open.
What is the Taiko no Tatsujin Donkatsu Cup 2025/2026?
The tournament aims to bring together aspiring Taiko players from across the nation. Two divisions have been established - the
General Division and the
Elementary School Division. Contestants will have the opportunity to advance by winning local area qualifiers held in five locations nationwide, or by achieving top scores in the online score attack events. The top scorers from each qualifier, along with a select few from a last-chance qualifier to be held a day before the finals, will compete in the grand final.
Tournament Structure
Participants will need to compete in various stages to earn a spot in the finals:

Area Qualifiers: Held offline across five locations. Each event winner will secure a place in the finals.

Shizuoka Qualifier: October 12, 2025, at TV Shizuoka Arena

Nagasaki Qualifier: October 19, 2025, at E-SPORTS PORT - Nagasaki

Okayama Qualifier: November 1, 2025, at Bic Camera Okayama

Gunma Qualifier: November 1, 2025, at JOMO Square

Web Qualifiers: An online score attack event where the top scorer will qualify for the finals. This will take place from
October 31, 2025, 12:00 PM to November 17, 2025, 12:00 PM via the tournament website.

Last Chance Qualifier: An offline competition on
January 2026, where the top two scorers will earn a ticket to the finals.
Grand Finals
The finals will bring together the top eight players from the various qualifying rounds and will be held at a to-be-announced location in January 2026, promising an exciting conclusion to the tournament.
Eligibility and Additional Details
- - General Division: Open to individuals aged 6 and older as of April 2, 2025.
- - Elementary School Division: For participants aged between 6 and 11 years old as of April 2, 2025.
- - Note: Participants aged 6 to 11 can only compete in one division.
Players will engage with two assigned songs in each qualifier, playing them twice for a maximum score. The scoring for the web qualifiers will focus on a single song challenge. The winners will be determined based on their best scores.
