Eisuke Ishihara Exhibition: Birds Soaring Towards Eternity
From
September 19 to September 23, 2025, the
WEED HEIGHTS gallery in
Yoyogi Uehara is set to host the exhibition
"Eisuke Ishihara: Birds Soaring Towards Eternity”. Founded by
Kyuryudo, this exhibition features an impressive collection of over
100 drawings and several oil paintings that vividly depict the theme of birds in flight.
Eisuke Ishihara, born in
1981 in Hokkaido, is a graduate of the
Tokyo University of the Arts with a focus on advanced artistic expression. Since
2017, he has made
Shimonoseki, Toyoura-cho his base for living and creating, where he explores open love and freedom through the act of painting. His work often transcends traditional boundaries, incorporating physical art pieces made from driftwood and ceramic plates alongside his vibrant paintings.
At the heart of this exhibition is Ishihara's concept that every bird depicted knows its destiny without any imparted knowledge, embodying a spiritual guide for the journey of life itself. He illustrates how these birds emerge from the heart tree, signifying a connection between this world and the unseen realm. This connection is portrayed through his intricate and expressive lines that transform into the bodies of birds, symbolizing the continuity of life despite barriers.
Artistic Components
In this exhibition, visitors can expect to see a blend of various artistic materials and expressions.
Eisuke Ishihara envisions his characters as a bridge connecting the afterlife with the present, echoing a silent prayer to all beings. The line sketches resembling branches—much like a tree's roots—expand and evolve into different birds, revealing the essence of life in its myriad of forms.
Performance Event: “Soaring Birds and Earth Sounds”
