Japan Frescoball Association Announces National Team for 2025 World Cup

The Japan Frescoball Association (JFBA), a key organization promoting the unique communication design sport of Frescoball, has officially announced the selection of its national pairs for the 2025 fiscal year. This decision comes ahead of their participation in the World Cup scheduled to take place on October 4-5 in Suma, Kobe. Notably, Ryogeisya Inc. continues its partnership as the main sponsor for the national team’s uniforms for the seventh consecutive year.

The recent close of the 2025 season saw the Frescoball Japan Tour culminate with the 'Frescoball Japan Open 2025' held from September 13-15 at Okura Coast in Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture. This event marked the end of the tour and saw intense competition among pairs in various categories, including men’s, women’s, and mixed competitions, as well as a masters category for players over 50. The top pairs, MVPs, and rookie awards were determined at this event.

The New Competitive Framework

This season introduced JFBA's unique speed gun system, 'HAYABUSA Pro,' which emphasizes a new evaluation metric focusing on 'attack speed,' alongside the total number of strikes. This significant change is aligned with increasing international competitiveness, ensuring that pairs showcasing toughness and impressive rallies can achieve recognition.

World Championship Prospects

The selected athletes will proudly represent Japan on the international stage as they prepare for the upcoming JBG® Frescoball World Cup 2025. Set to unfold at Suma Beach, this will be Japan’s first time hosting the World Championship, offering a platform for the nation’s top players to demonstrate their skills against some of the best in the world.

Sponsorship Continued

Ryogeisya Inc. continues to make strides in their support of the sport, providing the national team with uniforms featuring a fresh turquoise blue color. The collaboration with JFBA showcases their commitment to fostering the growth of Frescoball in Japan. Ryogeisya is recognized for harnessing innovative ideas and technology to create new value across various sectors, including online and real-world integrations.

The Essence of Frescoball

Originating from Rio de Janeiro, Frescoball is a unique beach sport developed in 1945 that emphasizes cooperation over competition. Its distinctive structure allows pairs to score points based on their ability to sustain a rally for five minutes while keeping a distance of 7 meters apart. This cooperative aspect of the game has made Frescoball a 'sport of empathy,' cultivating a strong community spirit within Japan, with 28 JFBA authorized clubs and 6 recognized student organizations now established nationwide.

Founded in 2013, the Japan Frescoball Association aims to spread the appeal of this innovative sport to a wider audience, with hopes of increasing participation and enhancing community connections through the joys of Frescoball.
