Japan's Frescoball Association and Toyo Construction Partner for the JBG®F Frescoball Odaiba Cup 2025

JBG®F Frescoball Odaiba Cup 2025: A Major Partnership

The Japan Frescoball Association (JFBA), known for promoting the sport of Frescoball, has made a significant announcement about the upcoming JBG®F Frescoball Odaiba Cup 2025. From May 3 to May 4, this prestigious event will take place, with Toyo Construction Co., Ltd. stepping in as a special sponsor. The partnership aims to elevate the profile of Frescoball, a communication design sport originating from Brazil.

Toyo Construction, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, is renowned for its expertise in marine contracting. They engage in various coastal and port construction projects such as reclamation, dredging, and offshore wind power ventures. The company is deeply committed to utilizing and enhancing marine environments, and they actively support the Beach Games Japan bid, which aims to host international beach and marine hybrid sports events. As part of this initiative, the company’s sponsorship of the Frescoball Odaiba Cup highlights their commitment to sports and community engagement.

With this sponsorship, the JFBA is excited to introduce a prize structure for the first time in its history for this official tournament. Participants will compete in men's, women's, and mixed categories, with cash prizes to be awarded to the champions. This change reflects the growing competitive nature of the sport and encourages increased participation.

The Odaiba Cup will be a highlight of the Japan Beach Games® Festival Odaiba 2025, which attracted an impressive 30,000 attendees over two days in the previous year. From May 3 to May 5, 2025, the festival will showcase an exciting array of 18 different beach and marine sports, featuring official competitions and experience sessions for attendees. The JFBA has consistently hosted official matches at Odaiba Beach since 2018, and this year promises to be no exception with official matches on May 3 and 4, followed by a free experience day on May 5, should the tournament proceed as scheduled.

Frescoball is a unique beach sport that encourages cooperation rather than competition. Founded on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro in 1945, the game emphasizes rallying between two players facing each other for five minutes, maintaining a distance of 7 meters apart. Due to its collaborative nature, it is often described as a “sport of thoughtfulness.” As of April 2025, there are 27 JFBA-certified regional clubs and five certified student organizations established throughout Japan, fostering community around the sport. The JFBA was formed in 2013 to broaden awareness and appreciation for Frescoball, with a goal to establish regional clubs in all 47 prefectures by the end of 2025.

This year's Frescoball Odaiba Cup is poised to be a turning point for the sport in Japan, not just for the aspirations of players but for community integration and sporting culture. So whether you're a seasoned athlete or new to the game, we invite you to come witness the Brazilian art of communication design sports and be part of this exciting event.
