Sandiola Leads Efforts to Combat Food Insecurity in San Diego County Through Pull-up For Hunger Event

Sandiola's Commitment to Community Impact

On March 24, 2025, Sandiola proudly declared the successful outcome of its second annual Pull-Up for Hunger event, hosted at San Dieguito Academy High School in Encinitas, California. This fundraiser was a collaborative effort with the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and the local lacrosse teams from San Dieguito Academy.

The fundraising effort garnered a commendable $11,461, translating into a remarkable 22,923 nutritious meals distributed to families and individuals grappling with food insecurity in the region. Given that over 44.2 million Americans, including a staggering 13 million children, face food insecurity, the significance of this event cannot be understated. It created a platform for the Encinitas community to unite and contribute towards addressing this dire issue.

Vinnie Whibbs, the Head Coach for the junior varsity boys' lacrosse team at San Dieguito, emphasized the broader educational goals embodied in this event. He stated, “We do events like this to make sure these kids are learning more than just how to throw and catch a lacrosse ball.” The sentiment reflects a commitment to not only develop athletic skills but also to instill a sense of social responsibility among the youth.

The funds collected from this event have made a tangible impact on the local community by supporting the San Diego Food Bank in its mission to alleviate hunger. Casey Castillo, co-founder and CEO of the San Diego Food Bank, expressed his gratitude by stating, “It's always inspiring to see young leaders step up to serve their community. Contributions like theirs help power our mission and remind us that when people come together with purpose, we can create meaningful change.”

Sandiola’s commitment to community service is further echoed through partnerships with various local corporate sponsors, including Coastal Cardiovascular Care, DLK Investment Management, Watermen Investments, and Hansen's Surfboard Shop. These collaborations have reinforced the event's status as a community endeavor aimed not just at fundraising, but also at fostering a culture of care and mutual support within Encinitas.

Looking ahead, Sandiola is determined to continue its efforts in supporting initiatives that address food insecurity. The organization specializes in enhancing financial performance and improving patient outcomes for community hospitals by addressing Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) staffing challenges. With a mission to ensure that resources are utilized efficiently and effectively to cater to the needs of vulnerable populations, Sandiola remains a critical player in both healthcare and community engagement

This event not only highlighted the pressing issue of food insecurity but also showcased the power of collective action in overcoming it. With dedicated individuals and organizations like Sandiola stepping forward, there is hope on the horizon for many families in San Diego County.
