EcoStyle's Continuous Efforts in Vaccine Donations

The brand reuse initiative, EcoStyle, operated by Standing Point Inc., has recently been recognized with a certificate of appreciation from the Japan Committee for Vaccines for Children (JCV) for its ongoing efforts in delivering vaccines to children in developing nations. This acknowledgment highlights not only the company's commitment but also the ongoing political instability in the region affecting vaccination efforts, particularly in Myanmar. The JCV's secretary-general, along with representatives, visited the Standing Point headquarters in Tokyo to personally present this award, emphasizing the importance of continued support to vulnerable communities.

JCV's Visit and Employee Experiences

During this visit, representatives from JCV shared insights about their donation tours in Laos and included a firsthand account from an EcoStyle employee, Matsuoka, who detailed their experience in the field. This narrative provided valuable perspectives on the significance of their work, illustrating the direct impact of vaccine donations on local communities.

In Myanmar, the situation remains dire, with a political climate dominated by military rule and ongoing conflicts that hinder vaccine distribution in rural areas. Despite these challenges, EcoStyle believes firmly in the principle of maintaining support, understanding that their contributions are more crucial than ever.

EcoStyle's Vaccine Donation Initiative

Since April 2009, EcoStyle has committed to donating 8 yen for every item purchased, directly contributing to BCG vaccine donations. The figures from December indicate that the company donated a total of 14,527 vaccines, raising the cumulative total to 194 donations, amounting to 11,082,160 yen, alongside additional support funds totaling 50,500 yen.

To date, EcoStyle has successfully facilitated more than 1.3 million vaccines. The symbolic significance of the 8 yen represents infinity when rotated, reflecting EcoStyle's dedication to a circular economy and its desire to maintain lasting relationships with customers.

Personal Insights from On-Site Visits

The company's president, Hiroshi Wakakami, personally attended a JCV donation tour, witnessing the reality of vaccine transportation under harsh conditions. For hours, he traveled along unpaved roads, delivering vaccines in styrofoam coolers amidst sweltering temperatures exceeding 42 degrees Celsius. Seeing mothers gathering with their children, expressing joy and gratitude for the vaccines, left a lasting impression on him. The tears of thanks and words of “please come again” echoed in his heart, illustrating the critical nature of sustained support.

Through this experience, Wakakami recognized that contributions are not merely one-time events but rather an ongoing responsibility, with the growth of the company intertwined with a commitment to societal well-being.
