Asia's Largest Unmanned AI Sorting Center Launched by DataBeyond
On April 6, 2026, DataBeyond, a global leader in AI-driven intelligent sorting systems, proudly announced the launch of its flagship project in Taichung, Taiwan. This facility stands as Asia's largest unmanned sorting center dedicated to a variety of plastics, marking a significant milestone in the region's recycling capabilities.
A Step Forward in Resource Processing
As Asia's first facility of its kind, this AI-powered sorting center has transitioned into a phase of high-efficiency routine operations. This innovative project brings forth digital and intelligent sorting technologies capable of handling mixed plastics, which is crucial for improving waste management in the region. The center is equipped to process up to 100 tons of post-consumer recycled plastics daily, revolutionizing the approach to plastic recycling and setting new standards in the industry.
Impressive Efficiency and Automation
DataBeyond’s Taichung facility operates entirely without on-site staff, revolutionizing labor dynamics within the recycling sector. By eliminating the need for 20 sorters per shift, the automation is made possible through the AI Agent Factory Management System. This highly advanced system has increased material throughput exponentially, boosting sorting capacity from two tons to ten tons per hour — an astounding 500% increase in efficiency. This significant enhancement positions plastic recycling as a high-tech industry critical for sustainability.
Cutting-Edge Technology
At the heart of this trailblazing sorting center lies DataBeyond’s proprietary technology which incorporates artificial intelligence and a multitude of sensors. Leveraging hyperspectral 256-band imaging and deep learning algorithms, the AI can accurately identify over 17 different materials and colors, including widely used plastics such as Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP), and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS). The ability to convert complex waste streams into high-quality recycled resins greatly reduces reliance on virgin fossil fuels, thereby contributing positively to environmental sustainability.
Commitment to Social and Environmental Goals
Mo Zhuoya, the CEO of DataBeyond, emphasized the company's commitment to promoting intelligent sorting technology worldwide, stating, "The project in Taichung demonstrates that AI can elevate human work by taking on dangerous tasks, making work conditions healthier and giving waste a second life."
This initiative aligns with global standards for technology that benefits society (Tech for Good) and aims to create measurable impacts across environmental, social, and governance (ESG) dimensions. Daily processing of 100 tons of plastic helps to lower CO2 emissions while mitigating microplastic pollution.
Enhancing Workplace Safety
The introduction of automated production lines significantly enhances workplace health and safety, embodying a humanistic approach to technology. The operational upgrades not only streamline processes but also ensure a safer working environment for employees.
