KAILAS Launches New Freeride Season as Title Sponsor for FWT China Series
KAILAS Unveils New Beginnings in Freeriding
On October 14, 2026, KAILAS hosted an exhilarating event in Guangzhou named BEYOND THE GATE | KAILAS SNOW SEASON OPENING NIGHT, which marked a significant launch for the 2026/27 ski season. During this vibrant celebration, KAILAS founder, Zhong Sir, announced the brand's new role as the title sponsor of the Freeride World Tour (FWT) China Series. This partnership expands upon the brand's collaboration with the competitive series from the previous year, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
Freeride skiing, distinct from traditional skiing on groomed trails, opens up the breathtaking vistas of natural landscapes where athletes must assess snow conditions, select their lines based on skill levels, and navigate the terrain with prudence and respect for the environment. The FWT China Series consists of four qualification events taking place in Jikepulin, Hemu, Altay, Xinjiang, held over two competition periods: December 9-15, 2026, and February 26-March 3, 2027. This initiative aims to connect Chinese skiers with the global freeriding community, fostering international relationships and skill levels.
More than just a competition, KAILAS seeks to cultivate a robust ski community through the BEYOND THE GATE initiative, which promotes mentorship, collaboration, and shared experiences among skiers. The program will bring together instructors, mountain guides, and enthusiasts via ski courses, safety training, experience sharing, and on-site services. By doing so, KAILAS encourages more adventurers to explore the mountains with knowledge, preparation, and a profound respect for the terrain.
Continuing its commitment to developing innovative products, KAILAS showcased its BM45 Freeride Collection in Hemu last season, allowing athletes to test gear directly on snow. The brand also introduced its TAIGA skiing apparel, designed specifically for extreme cold conditions, featuring weatherproofing and thermal insulation along with zoned breathability. Additionally, this collection includes elements such as helmet-compatible hoods, snow seals, and RECCO® technology—a critical safety feature that helps users be found by rescue teams in case of an avalanche or if they become lost in the wilderness.
To enhance skier safety on the mountains, KAILAS plans to collaborate with professional trainers and avalanche specialists to provide courses in freeride safety and experience-sharing opportunities. The company is also expanding its services at locations like Songhua Lake and Hemu to connect skiers with local guides, gear consultations, training, and community activities.
Through competitive partnerships and local services, KAILAS aspires to foster the growth of freeride skiing in China while empowering skiers to embrace the mountains responsibly and knowledgeably. With its new sponsorship of the FWT China Series, KAILAS is poised to elevate the freeride experience for athletes and enthusiasts alike, framing a future where adventure meets safety and community.
KAILAS is excited to embark on this promising journey, uniting amateur and professional skiers around a shared passion for the mountains and the spirit of adventure. As they gear up for the thrilling events ahead, KAILAS remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of freeriding while promoting an inclusive skiing environment.
