Synology Expands All-Flash Enterprise Storage Lineup
On May 7, 2026, Synology unveiled its latest additions to its storage solutions, announcing the release of two all-flash storage systems – the
FS6420 and
FS3420. Targeted at enterprises that demand low-latency performance, these systems are designed specifically for rigorous workloads including on-premises virtualization, databases, and enterprise applications.
Jeffrey Huang, Product Manager at Synology, emphasized the growing need for robust storage solutions in today's business landscape: "More organizations are operating demanding on-premises workloads than ever before, necessitating storage that can keep pace. The FS6420 and FS3420 significantly improve IOPS performance and latency-sensitive workloads compared to previous models. They are ideal for mid to large-sized enterprises or co-location environments looking to deploy enterprise applications or virtualization workloads."
Enhanced Enterprise Performance and Proven Reliability
The
FS6420 and
FS3420 are robust 24-bay, 2U rack-mounted systems that provide remarkable I/O responsiveness and enhanced performance compared to their predecessors. Notably, the FS6420 achieves over
929,000 IOPS for read operations and
257,000 IOPS for writes, demonstrating increases of
40% and
26% respectively. The FS3420 similarly excels with more than
478,000 IOPS for reads and
169,000 IOPS for writes, showcasing improvements of
21% and 32% in read and write performance. Both models also exhibit more than
60% improvement in SMB read throughput, making them optimal for high-bandwidth file sharing.
Beyond just speed, these systems offer flexible connectivity options. They come standard with
dual 10GbE ports, with optional integration for
25GbE or Fibre Channel adapters for seamless compatibility with high-speed network infrastructures.
Reliability is a core design principle in both units. They feature redundant power supplies to eliminate single points of failure. The integrated
10GbE network supports failover and load balancing, ensuring continuous uptime. Additionally, the out-of-band management capability allows administrators to troubleshoot remotely and access system logs even when the server is powered down.
Built for High-Demand Workloads
Equipped with
Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM), the FS6420 and FS3420 bring the full functionality of Synology's software ecosystem to enterprise environments. This includes:
Wide Platform Compatibility
Both systems are certified for use in
VMware® vSphere®, Microsoft® Hyper-V®, Citrix®, and OpenStack environments, expanding their versatility.
Robust Workflow Support
Their combination of high-speed networking and all-flash performance enables these systems to handle data and network-intensive workloads. They are particularly well-suited for projects that require multiple users to access large files via
SMB or NFS, such as video post-production or large-scale CAD projects.
Intelligent Storage Tiering
Synology Tiering maximizes storage efficiency by managing data across performance and capacity tiers. The FS6420 and FS3420 act as high-performing hot tiers, ensuring sufficient flash capacity and IOPS headroom for critical workloads.
Built-In Data Protection
Using
Active Backup for Business, unlimited virtual machines can be backed up from physical servers, complemented by
Snapshot Replication for immediate recovery points and granular restoration at the volume, folder, and file level, effectively meeting RPO and RTO goals.
Availability
The FS6420 and FS3420 will be available globally through Synology’s partner and distributor networks starting from May 7, 2026. For further details, visit the product pages for FS6420 and FS3420.
Note:
Performance figures derive from internal testing by Synology. Actual performance may vary depending on the test environment, usage, and configuration.
