Experience a Magical Art Workshop: 'Dreamy Snow'

About the Workshop...

The workshop, 'Let’s Play with Sounds - Into the Snowy World!', is inspired by the enchanting tale where a grandfather and his farm animals celebrate Christmas enveloped in snow. Children will explore various musical instruments they can create themselves, including bells, wooden castanets, and salt maracas. This immersive experience not only stimulates the senses but also encourages children's curiosity through play and learning. It’s a rare opportunity for children to engage with art in a captivating environment.

What is 'PLAY! ART! BABY!'

'PLAY! ART! BABY!' is an interactive arts workshop tailored for children aged 0-2. The themes change every three months, based on Eric Carle's picture books. Using materials that engage sight, sound, touch, and light, the program emphasizes sensory art experiences, promoting creativity and emotional expression. This program is designed in collaboration with the renowned picture book author and art instructor, Hitomi Yamaji.

About the Instructor: Hitomi Yamaji

Originally from Miyagi, Japan, Hitomi graduated from the Musashino Art University with a degree in visual communication design. After working as a designer for stationery and fabrics, she pursued her career as a picture book author. Alongside creating her artistic works, she teaches children's art classes at daycare centers and events.

Overview of 'Dreamy Snow'

Written by Eric Carle and translated by Hisako Aoki, 'Dreamy Snow' tells the story of a grandfather who lives on a small farm with animals. As Christmas approaches and snow has yet to fall, he dozes off only to dream of a snowy landscape that gently blankets him and the animals. This delightful tale features a surprise ending that brings a joyful twist, making it a perfect winter read.
