Tokyo Metropolitan Government's New Support Program for Mid-Sized Firms
In an effort to bolster economic growth within the capital, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is initiating a new program aimed at supporting mid-sized companies. Recognizing the critical role these firms play in revitalizing the city's industries, the government is calling for applications from companies looking to expand their operations and contribute to economic prosperity.
Overview of the Initiative
This initiative aims to provide comprehensive support to mid-sized companies from planning to execution of their projects. These firms are seen as key drivers of growth within the Japanese economy, especially as they forge partnerships with small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups. This program marks the first of its kind specifically focused on mid-sized companies by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
Definition of Mid-Sized Companies
In line with the revised Industrial Competitiveness Enhancement Act set to take effect in September 2024, mid-sized companies are defined as those employing fewer than 2,000 people and not classified as SMEs.
