The 28th edition of Bakery China is set to take place from May 20 to 23 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai. Known as one of the world's leading exhibitions in the baking sector, this highly anticipated event is organized by the China National Bakery Association and Bakery China Exhibitions Co., Ltd. This year's theme, "Innovate Beyond • Premiere Fusion • Link Future," promises to showcase significant advancements and innovations in the industry across an enormous space of over 330,000 square meters, utilizing 13 exhibition halls.

As the leading platform for launching new products and innovations, Bakery China 2026 will significantly highlight the essence of innovation. Attendees can expect a grand debut of tens of thousands of new products, technologies, business models, and industrial formats. Several exciting events, including the Bakery China Innovation Award, Innovation Talk, and a dedicated week for product launches, aim to emphasize the latest industry practices. Topics attracting attention will include healthy baking options, low glycemic index products, the convergence of food and medicine, the use of regional ingredients, artificial intelligence applications, and smart manufacturing.

This year marks a notable occasion with the concurrent hosting of the Chocolate China 2026 exhibition for the first time. This unique fusion is expected to draw over 200 renowned domestic and international chocolate brands across an impressive space of 30,000 square meters. Among the related events is the 2026 Chocolate Industry Forum in China, which will cover the entire value chain from cacao to final products, featuring leading brands.

Connecting the Future: Internationalization and Niche Markets Growth

Bakery China 2026 is anticipated to attract more than 2,200 companies from the baking supply chain hailing from over 70 countries, along with nearly 400,000 visitors from 130 nations. Notably, international brands will comprise over 20% of participating companies, indicating a strong global presence. Remarkably, foreign pre-registrations have surged by 30% compared to last year, with over 10,000 buyers emerging from key regions, including Southeast Asia, the Asia-Pacific, Central Asia, Europe, and the United States.

The exhibition will spotlight five key scenarios: chain stores, brand owners, supermarket bakeries, industrial bakeries, and the globalization of bakeries. Over 100 integrated events will unfold, encompassing the whole industry chain through professional competitions, live masterclasses, guided tours, and a combined coffee and bread festival. Highlights include the inaugural Namchow Cup supermarket bakery competition, forums on globalization and smart manufacturing, healthy baking practices, and a national coffee skill competition.

These comprehensive initiatives are designed to invigorate emerging segments and facilitate Chinese bakery brands to engage on a global level. Zhang Jiukui, president of the China National Bakery Association, noted, "After nearly three decades of development, Bakery China has become a global benchmark for the baking industry. This year's exhibition facilitates the growth of a high-quality industry, opening a new chapter with bakery professionals worldwide."

Looking ahead, Bakery China will launch its inaugural ASEAN International Bakery Exhibition in Jakarta from August 27 to 29, extending this momentum of innovation into Southeast Asia. With such a dynamic array of activities and innovations in store, Bakery China 2026 promises to set new benchmarks for the future of baking worldwide.
