The CFA Institute, a leading global organization serving investment professionals, has announced the results of the Level III CFA Program exam held in February 2025. Out of the 11,131 candidates who participated worldwide, an impressive 49% successfully passed the exam, with results communicated to all candidates today.

Insights from CFA Institute Leaders


Chris Wiese, Managing Director of Education at CFA Institute, also expressed his commendations to those who passed. He noted that their achievement reflects a strong commitment to education and skill development in today’s competitive investment landscape. Wiese provided insights into the passing rates, indicating that first-time candidates enjoyed the highest success with a pass rate of 56%, compared to a 30% rate for those with prior deferrals.

He advised candidates to remain diligent and continue their studies to stay on track for future examinations. The 2025 February Level III exams were conducted at 454 designated computer-based testing centers across 375 cities in 107 markets globally, showcasing the expansive reach of the CFA Institute.

Specialized Pathways Introduced


The February 2025 cohort was notably the first to select from three specialized pathways offered as part of the CFA Program enhancements. These pathways include Portfolio Management (the traditional Level III), Private Wealth, and Private Markets, all maintaining equal rigor while guiding candidates towards their CFA charter.

Path to Becoming a CFA Charterholder


Candidates who successfully pass Level III are eligible to become CFA charterholders upon verifying their work experience and joining CFA Institute as regular members. This status requires annual affirmation of adherence to ethical guidelines and professional conduct established by the organization.
