A New Dining Concept: Where Sleep, Beauty, and Yakitori Intersect

A Revolutionary Yakitori Restaurant Combining Sleep, Beauty, and Nutrition

In a groundbreaking move, 4shift Corporation, led by former sleep industry executive Joichi Saito, will open a luxury yakitori restaurant, "Sleep. Beauty. Fire. Yakitori Saito," in Roppongi, Tokyo. The soft launch is scheduled for April 1, 2026, with the grand opening following on April 15, 2026. This venture aims to redefine dining by marrying culinary excellence with wellness, specifically focusing on enhancing sleep quality and beauty.

A Unique Concept

Unlike traditional yakitori establishments, this restaurant is crafted as a “restaurant designed to influence your physical condition the following morning.” Each dish is meticulously prepared with ingredients, cooking methods, aromas, and even the meal sequence all engineered to promote better sleep and skin health. Patrons will not only enjoy delicious food but also experience a thoughtfully designed dining journey that considers their physical state the next day.

The courses are arranged to maximize the benefits for sleep and beauty. Diners will find that even the ambiance, including temperature, has been curated to enhance their overall experience and readiness for sleep, providing a holistic approach to wellness through food.

The Rationale Behind “Sleep x Yakitori”

Japan has one of the shortest sleep durations among OECD countries, with about half of the population reporting sleep-related issues (according to the Sleep White Paper). This situation is particularly pronounced in women, who on average sleep less than men. Recognizing this chronic problem, Saito concluded that to energize the world each morning, food and sleep must be integrated. This insight has laid the groundwork for the pioneering project and dining concept.

Joichi Saito: A Leader's Transition

Joichi Saito, born in 1973, is not your ordinary entrepreneur. He previously held prominent positions, including president of Showa Nishikawa Co., Ltd., a leader in the sleep industry, and chairman of the Sleep Improvement Academy. In December 2025, he resigned from all positions to fully commit to this new venture. This is not merely about entering the food industry but represents a determined effort to revolutionize Japan's sleep through an innovative food and sleep integration model.

A Fusion of Elements

The concept of "Sleep. Beauty. Fire." encapsulates the essence of this restaurant, integrating three critical aspects—sleep, beauty, and the fire used in yakitori preparation. The objective is to create a new value that fuses delightful taste with tangible health benefits, addressing the balance between enjoyment and physical well-being.

Exclusive Media Preview
