Exciting Developments for 2025 SUPER FORMULA with New Drivers

Overview of the 2025 SUPER FORMULA Development Test

The highly anticipated 2025 SUPER FORMULA development test is set to welcome two prominent drivers, Naoki Yamamoto and Yusuke Kunimoto, who both have exceptional records in the series. Announced by Japan Race Promotion (JRP), this year's test emphasizes the commitment to both entertainment and carbon neutrality.

Development Test Vehicles

Since 2022, JRP has focused on the "SUPER FORMULA NEXT50" project, which aims to embrace carbon neutrality while enhancing the entertainment aspect of the races. In line with this initiative, the current vehicle, the SF23, was introduced in 2023 incorporating innovative materials. For instance, it utilizes Bcomp's bio-composite material that reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 75% during production, alongside Yokohama Rubber's racing tires made of 46% renewable and recycled materials.

Upcoming Test Sessions

The 2025 development tests will take place over two days, on May 27th and 28th, at Sportsland SUGO in Murata, Miyagi Prefecture. With the combined experience of Yamamoto and Kunimoto, who each have 15 and 14 years in professional racing respectively, the development team is geared up to take significant strides in the sport. Fans and followers eagerly await the official reports and insights from these sessions.
