Meijer Expands Home Delivery Service, Reaching 4 Million More Households

In a move to enhance customer convenience and accessibility, Meijer, the well-known Midwest retailer, has unveiled a ground-breaking expansion of its home delivery service area. This initiative triples the existing delivery radius from roughly 20 minutes to a substantial 60 minutes from its various store locations. As a result, approximately four million additional households will now have access to this popular service, which promises to deliver fresh groceries and household essentials in as little as three hours.

Emily Henao, Vice President of Digital Experience at Meijer, emphasized the motivation behind this expansion, stating, "We heard from many customers that were interested in using home delivery to make their grocery shopping more convenient but couldn't because they were outside of the delivery range. We know our customers are busier than ever, and this expansion gives us a unique opportunity to make their lives easier."

Customers can easily check if they fall within the new delivery zone through the Meijer app or website. By simply navigating to the 'Delivery' section and entering their address, users can confirm their eligibility for this expanded service.

To encourage customers to take advantage of the new delivery options, Meijer is offering free home delivery to consumers who shop for at least $35 worth of pet or beauty items or $50 worth of general merchandise, until February 1, 2025. After this promotional period ends, there will be a standard extended delivery fee for users in the newly eligible areas. Notably, customers utilizing SNAP benefits will continue to enjoy free home delivery even after the promotional pricing concludes.

Meijer's journey into home delivery began in 2016 when it first launched the service in the Detroit market. Since then, the company has gradually broadened its delivery options across the Midwest, continuously adapting to the growing demand for grocery delivery, especially during the pandemic, which surged the need for convenient service options for busy families.

Today, all Meijer Grocery stores and supercenters are equipped to offer home delivery services. In addition to the new delivery options, the retailer continues to provide various shopping methods, including curbside pickup and Shop & Scan, a service designed to provide even more flexibility for shoppers, ensuring they can shop in a manner that best suits their lifestyles.

Meijer stands as a privately owned, family-run retailer currently operating over 500 supercenters, grocery stores, and neighborhood markets throughout the Midwest. Since its inception, Meijer has pioneered the one-stop shopping concept and nurtured a team of more than 70,000 employees, all dedicated to providing an enjoyable shopping experience focused on a wide selection of fresh foods, quality apparel, household necessities, and health and wellness products.

Furthermore, the company remains committed to giving back to the community, actively donating at least 6% of its profits to various community initiatives every year.
