Entries Now Open for the 4th AI Art Grand Prix: Exploring the Theme of 'Miracles'

4th AI Art Grand Prix Now Open for Entries



The 4th AI Art Grand Prix has officially begun accepting entries, inviting artists to delve into this year's captivating theme, "Miracles." The goal of the competition is to guide the active use of AI as an expressive tool and to foster talent among creators utilizing AI in their art. The final judging will take place on November 8, 2025, at Bellesalle Akihabara, as part of the “AI Festival 2025 Powered by ThirdWave.”

Key Details of the 4th AI Art Grand Prix



The submission period runs from August 1 to September 15, 2025, with the preliminary results set to be announced in early October. The refined structure of the competition, featuring multiple categories, aims to make it more accessible for artists and creators to participate.

Competition Categories


Participants can select from the following five categories to submit their work:
  • - Short Video Category (up to 5 minutes)
  • - Long Video Category
  • - Visual Arts Category (including paintings and sculptures, 1 data)
  • - Entertainment Category (covering manga, music, installations, interactive art, games, hardware, performances, etc.)
  • - Innovation Category (tools and technologies useful in creative processes)

Entry Requirements


To qualify for the competition, entries must meet the following criteria:
  • - The work must utilize AI, encompassing video, still images, manga, music, games, hardware, performances, or tools.
  • - Artists are required to disclose the specific AI models used, the seed values, prompts, and datasets utilized in the creation process to the judging committee.
  • - AI-generated materials should incorporate human modification (this does not apply to entries in the Innovation Category).

Judging Criteria


The submissions will be evaluated based on:
1. Proper utilization of AI as a means of human expression.
2. Originality in artistic expression.
3. Absence of direct infringement on others' rights.
4. Compliance with Japanese domestic laws.

Jury Members


The panel will feature distinguished judges including:
  • - Chairperson: Yoichiro Kawaguchi, Media Artist and Professor Emeritus at The University of Tokyo
  • - Judges: Yoshitoshi Abe (Illustrator and Manga Artist), Taichi Kakinuma (Lawyer), Michihiko Suwa (Anime Producer), and Aimi Sekiguchi (Artist).

Awards and Prizes


Outstanding submissions will be recognized with various awards including:
  • - Grand Prize (1 piece): ¥150,000, plus a GALLERIA desktop model.
  • - Runner-Up (1 piece): ¥100,000, plus a GALLERIA laptop.
  • - Special Jury Award (1 piece): ¥50,000.
  • - Excellence Award: ¥30,000.
  • - Outstanding Achievement Award: ¥20,000.
  • - ThirdWave Award: ¥50,000, plus incorporation of the winning visual into the next AI Festival's key visual.
