Enhancing Compliance Understanding: A New Chapter in Financial Training
The intersection of global finance and regulation has never been more critical than in today's interconnected economy. Recognizing this need, the Institute for Financial Integrity (IFI) and the prestigious international law firm Crowell & Moring have announced an expansion of their collaborative training initiative aimed at augmenting understanding and compliance with global sanctions and export controls.
Over the last two years, this program has successfully operated in 18 countries, with aspirations to extend its reach to more than ten additional nations this year. This growth reflects not only the success of their efforts but also the increasing global demand for knowledge regarding sanctions compliance, relevant to a variety of stakeholders including regulatory bodies, law enforcement agencies, customs services, and a multitude of industries from finance to logistics.
David (Dj) Wolff, co-chair of Crowell & Moring’s International Trade Group, articulated the impact of their comprehensive training modules: “It has been a privilege to deliver these trainings globally, engaging directly with central banks, financial institutions, and compliance professionals tackling challenges head-on. Our commitment is to continue this important work over the coming year.”
Objective of the Training Program
The training has been meticulously designed to enhance participants' understanding of risks and policies in relation to sanctions enforcement. Among the core topics covered are multi-layered sanction regimes, bilateral controls, emerging evasion tactics, and risk mitigation strategies. The program incorporates:
- - Instructor-led Workshops: Immersive, scenario-based sessions featuring live translations tailored to local contexts.
- - Certification Opportunities: Eligible participants may earn the Global Sanctions Certification (CRMS-GS) from IFI, enriching their professional credentials and equipping them with the requisite skills to navigate current and evolving sanction landscapes.
- - Online Continuing Education: Participants will gain one-year access to IFI’s DOLFIN platform, which offers a wealth of resources including expert insights, webinars, newsletters, and an AI-driven compliance assistant.
As Natalie Pulsifer, senior director at IFI, notes, “We are thrilled to partner with one of the world’s most respected legal institutions to deliver a training program that sets the global standard. This partnership synergizes deep legal knowledge with practical training for institutions navigating the rapidly shifting risk landscape.”
The continuous success of this initiative underscores a shared commitment to equip global institutions with the necessary knowledge and tools to thrive in an increasingly complex regulatory environment. By enhancing regulatory compliance and efficiently mitigating risks, the partnership aims to protect the integrity of the financial system worldwide.
