Celebrating the Grand Opening of Seibu Agri Park Tokorozawa with a Unique Blueberry Harvest Experience

Seibu Agri Park Tokorozawa: A New Frontier in Agricultural Tourism

The Seibu Group, renowned for its landscaping ventures, has branched into agriculture with Seibu Agri Co., Ltd, marking a significant milestone with the upcoming grand opening of the Seibu Agri Park Tokorozawa on June 13, 2026. This unique farm park, spanning approximately 1.7 hectares in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture, aims to provide visitors with an enriching agricultural experience right under solar panels utilizing a modern farming concept known as "solar sharing."

Grand Opening Event

To commemorate the grand opening, a special blueberry harvest experience will be held on June 26, 2026, exclusively for preschoolers from the local "Tokorozawa Genki Nursery School." This event will involve around 20 children and their teachers as they engage in blueberry picking and tasting, allowing them hands-on experience while promoting environmental awareness through the initiatives presented by Shuuhei Sato from the Tokorozawa Environmental Clean Division.

Harvest Day Schedule

The schedule for this exciting event is as follows:
  • - 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM: Children will be introduced to the city’s ecological initiatives, followed by a tutorial on how to properly harvest blueberries led by Tomomi Kiyono, the CEO of Seibu Agri.
  • - 10:45 AM: The main event begins with the children picking blueberries and tasting various kinds.
  • - 11:20 AM: The event concludes with a summary, Q&A, and opportunities for surrounding media to conduct brief interviews.

Note: The event will go ahead in light rain but will be canceled in severe weather, with a decision communicated by June 25.

Location and Access

The Seibu Agri Park Tokorozawa is located at 167-4 Kita-Iwaoka, Tokorozawa City, Saitama. Access to the park is convenient:
  • - By Car: Approximately a 30-minute drive from the “Miyoshi Smart IC” via Route 254.
  • - By Public Transport: Take the Seibu Shinjuku Line to Shin-Tokorozawa Station, then a 10-minute walk from the bus stop after taking the Seibu bus to the end of its route.

Innovative Farming Techniques

This farm will feature an impressive array of 25 different blueberry varieties, with a total of 1,100 plants grown beneath solar panels. This innovative farming technique not only maximizes land use but also ties into the sustainability practices that Seibu aims to promote. The energy generated from solar power will be supplied to public facilities within Tokorozawa, contributing to the city’s goal of achieving a carbon-neutral society and showcasing the concept of producing and consuming energy locally.

The festivities at Seibu Agri Park Tokorozawa are designed not only to offer fun and education to the children but also to inspire the next generation towards understanding sustainable agricultural practices and environmental responsibility.
