Father-Baby Special Mother's Day Project at YUARITO DAY: Strengthening Family Bonds

A Unique Mother’s Day Experience at YUARITO DAY

The innovative initiative, the “Father and Baby Mother’s Day Project,” will take place on May 11, 2025, at YUARITO DAY, a day-use postpartum care facility operated by Josan-she's in Nihonbashi Hamacho, Tokyo. This special project aims to provide dads and their little ones an engaging outing while granting mothers needed time for self-care.

The Purpose Behind the Event

As of April 2024, amendments to the Child Care Leave Act have made significant strides in strengthening child-rearing support structures in Japan. Enhancements include extended regulations on overtime and a push for telework implementations for parenting purposes. While these changes are intended to create a supportive environment for balancing work and parenting, many families continue to face overwhelming stresses linked to actual caregiving practices, particularly concerning fathers' roles in child-rearing.

The current societal focus on father's participation in parenting highlights a gap – there is still a lack of practical learning opportunities for fathers to gain hands-on experience in child care. Hence, Josan-she's introduces this project under the theme of providing mothers with a refreshing break while instilling confidence and skills in fathers as active caregivers during this special occasion.

Event Details

The event will occur on May 11, 2025, split into two sessions: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, with each session accommodating eight families. Located conveniently at YUARITO DAY, just a short walk from Hamacho station, participants include fathers with babies under six months old.

Fees

The participation fee is 4,000 yen, with a discount available at 3,500 yen for those who reserve in April. Payment on the day will only be accepted via credit card or QR code.

Activities Planned

  • - Creating meaningful gifts for mothers
  • - Practical workshops on infant care (e.g., how to hold a baby, selecting and using toys)
  • - Opportunities for fathers to connect and share parenting experiences
  • - Q&A sessions addressing everyday parenting concerns

All participants will receive a 10% discount coupon for future visits to YUARITO DAY. Staffed by qualified professionals like midwives and childcare workers, the event promises to be a safe and educational environment for participating dads.

Why It Matters

YUARITO DAY recognizes a critical evolution in postpartum care, shifting the focus from solely supporting mothers to enhancing family-centered parenting skills collectively. This project's goal is to create a supportive and secure space for fathers who may feel uncertain about their parenting abilities, allowing them to engage, learn, and enjoy quality time with their babies while giving mothers that much-needed chance to relax and rejuvenate.

Josan-she's remains dedicated to bridging the gap between systemic support and real-life parenting experiences. By enhancing the soft skills surround parenting, Josan-she's aims to contribute to a society where everyone can engage in parenting authentically and positively.
