PACU Day: Transforming Presidents Day into a Day of Growth and Inspiration for Employees
Empowering Employees on PACU Day
Each year, Presidents Day offers an opportunity to reflect on leadership and the principles that define our country. At Piedmont Advantage Credit Union (PACU), this day has evolved into a significant event known as PACU Day, marking a commitment to the growth of its employees. During this annual gathering, employees from various branches and departments come together, fostering an environment centered around personal development, shared learning, and open discussions about the future direction of the credit union.
A Day of Reflection and Growth
Dion Williams, the President and CEO of PACU, expressed his enthusiasm for PACU Day, highlighting its importance as a platform for reflection and investment in the credit union's employees. He stated, "When our people grow, our credit union grows, and our members benefit." This year, PACU Day took place on February 16 and welcomed Dr. Pam Cobler as a keynote speaker, who is not only an educator and consultant but also an acclaimed author and disability advocate. Her personal story and insights provided attendees with thought-provoking concepts on resilience and the power of diversity.
Dr. Dr. Cobler's Inspiring Message
Dr. Cobler began her address by recounting her experiences following a tragic motorcycle accident that changed her life dramatically. With honesty and clarity, she discussed how such events have restructured her perspective into two distinct chapters: before and after her injury. Her story exemplified the notion that life's challenges can serve as profound teachers.
Throughout her discussion, Dr. Cobler encouraged attendees to redefine the concept of 'difference.' She emphasized that what many view as limitations could actually be reframed as unique strengths.
