Anssi Huhta Takes the Helm as New CEO of Aktia Bank Plc

On October 21, 2025, Aktia Bank Plc made a significant announcement regarding its leadership, confirming the appointment of Anssi Huhta as the new Chief Executive Officer. Huhta has served as the company's interim CEO for several months prior to this announcement, filling the role since June 12, 2025.

Anssi Huhta’s journey with Aktia began in 2020. He quickly rose through the ranks, beginning as Executive Vice President of Corporate Customers and later assuming the position of EVP for Banking Business. His previous experiences include serving as the Deputy CEO of Aktia between 2023 and 2025, alongside a noteworthy stint at OP Financial Group where he was responsible for private and corporate client relations. Huhta also held the role of CEO of OP Card Company Plc and was a Branch Manager at Aktia before that. This diverse background equips him with a wealth of knowledge about not only Aktia's operations but also the broader banking landscape.

The decision to appoint Huhta was made by the Board of Directors, who believe that his profound understanding of the bank combined with his extensive banking experience will provide crucial continuity and visionary leadership. The Board highlighted that Huhta’s leadership is essential at a time when the company is looking to advance its strategy, which focuses on active wealth management, encouraging growth in its core segments, and enhancing overall customer experience.

Juha Hammarén, Chair of the Board of Aktia, expressed confidence in Huhta’s leadership capabilities, stating, "We are very pleased to have Anssi, who knows Aktia thoroughly, as CEO. He has already played a key role in the implementation of Aktia’s strategy, and we see that Anssi is the right person to bring stability and a long-term culture of growth to Aktia.”

Hammarén further emphasized the importance of stability for the bank and its employees. He believes under Huhta’s leadership, Aktia will continue to create value for both customers and shareholders, alongside its operational management and dedicated employees.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Huhta stated, "I am excited to be able to continue the implementation of Aktia’s strategy as CEO. I believe in our employees, our organization, and the solid position we've gained over the years with our target customers. Now is the time to focus on long-term value creation, where we earn our customers’ trust and meet their expectations consistently.” He also emphasized the emphasis on fostering an open and proactive corporate culture and expressed gratitude for collaborating with his colleagues on a daily basis.

In light of Huhta’s new appointment, the responsibilities he held as Director of Banking Business will be reorganized, with further communications expected soon to outline these changes.
