CityUHK Dongguan Celebrates Its First Graduation Ceremony for 2026



On June 22, 2026, the City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) proudly held its first graduation ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the university's journey. More than 420 MSc graduates traveled from Dongguan to Hong Kong to participate in this historic event, becoming the inaugural class of the institution and joining the global CityUHK community.

The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, academics, and guests, including Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Li Jun, Deputy Mayor of the Dongguan Municipal Government; and various prominent university officials. Their presence underscored the importance of this occasion and the role of CityUHK in the educational landscape of the Greater Bay Area.

In his speech, Leung emphasized the cross-boundary educational value that CityUHK (Dongguan) represents, encouraging graduates to seize opportunities within the Greater Bay Area to foster regional and national innovation. Deputy Mayor Li acknowledged CityUHK (Dongguan) as a flagship educational project supported by strong local industry and innovation resources, motivating graduates to build their professional careers in Dongguan.
