New Initiative for Comfortable Living
The Japan Sash Association (JSA), led by Masahiro Hirano of Sankyotaiyo Co., Ltd., recently announced the creation of the "Comfortable Living Information Room." This initiative, set to launch in July 2025, aims to address various living environment issues exacerbated by rising temperatures and prolonged heatwave risks, including heatstroke.
The Importance of the Comfortable Living Information Room
According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), 2024 is expected to be recorded as one of the hottest years. In Japan, extremely high temperatures have already been documented, with numerous areas experiencing days exceeding 35 degrees Celsius. Such conditions increase the risk of heat-related health issues, particularly as it is reported that nearly 40% of heatstroke cases occur at home. Recognizing this alarming trend, the JSA sees a pressing need to enhance living environments to improve the quality of life for citizens.
In response, four leading sash manufacturers—Sankyotaiyo Co., Ltd., Fujisashi Co., Ltd., LIXIL, and YKK AP—are collaborating under a neutral and public interest framework, sharing essential information on measures to counteract extreme heat and promote wellness in daily life. The Comfortable Living Information Room will serve as a media inquiry support center, facilitating frequent communication of significant topics pertaining to home comfort.
Objectives of the Comfortable Living Information Room
The Comfortable Living Information Room aims to contribute to enhancing Japan’s living environment by focusing on the following activities:
1.
Unified Proposals for Improved Living Environments: The four member companies will collectively propose measures to enhance living environments. By working with the Ministry of the Environment, they are committed to presenting consumers with the benefits associated with window renovations, including health benefits, comfort, and energy conservation.
2.
Economic Impact Studies: The initiative will include surveys and analyses related to the economic losses caused by heatstroke and sleep disorders attributable to living conditions. Publicly sharing these findings will help identify consumer challenges and needs.
3.
Solutions that are Kind to Wallets, Health, and Environment: The Comfortable Living Information Room will compile and regularly disseminate useful information relevant to creating more comfortable living conditions from a consumer perspective, ensuring it meets the needs of media partners for seasonal and event-related topics.
4.
Promotion of Innovative Window Renovation Programs: This initiative will promote the effective use of the Ministry of the Environment’s “Innovative Window Renovation 2025 Program,” encouraging publicity efforts and the use of subsidies to spread awareness of renovations.
Reliable and Neutral Information Sharing
The JSA’s Comfortable Living Information Room is not just a temporary information distribution point. It will strive to offer consumers genuinely helpful insights, presented from an unbiased perspective devoid of corporate branding. Media partners will be equipped with reliable information relevant to home improvements to share with consumers at various times throughout the year.
