Legalscape AI Achieves Near-Perfect Scores in Bar Exam

Legalscape's AI Shines in Japan's Bar Exam

In a significant breakthrough, Legalscape Inc., based in Bunkyo, Tokyo, has developed an AI that has surpassed the latest models of Gemini and ChatGPT by achieving remarkable results in all subjects of the 2024 Japan Bar Exam's multiple-choice section. The CEO, Tsurugi Yagida, has expressed that this milestone not only highlights the capabilities of their AI but also revolutionizes the landscape of legal research in Japan.

The Japan Bar Exam's multiple-choice questions cover three subjects: Constitutional Law, Civil Law, and Criminal Law. The perfect score for these subjects adds up to 175 points, while the minimum threshold to advance to the essay portion is set at 93 points. In conducting comprehensive tests with these questions, Legalscape's AI achieved an impressive average score of around 160 points. In contrast, Gemini managed an average of approximately 118 points, ChatGPT rounded out with about 115 points, and Perplexity faltered at around 73 points. The AI, trained on extensive legal literature, thus demonstrated its superiority by securing significantly higher scores than its competitors across the board.

Moreover, when comparing the ratio of correctly answered questions, Legalscape's AI attained completion rates of about 90%, which is far superior to Gemini and ChatGPT, both at an average of about 63%, and Perplexity, which managed only around 37%. This stark contrast showcases Legalscape's AI's adeptness and effectiveness in addressing complex legal questions.

Legalscape's AI has been tailored to provide meticulous responses to legal inquiries by referencing a vast array of legal literature, precedents, and guidelines from governmental agencies. This capability allows the AI to rapidly summarize systematic and accurate information while giving users the option to access the fundamental literature directly.

It is important to note that the AI utilized for these assessments is still in development. However, Legalscape plans to incorporate the insights gained from these tests into a stable, user-friendly version for widespread release.
