As part of its commitment to enhancing the local community, the company has set up the preparatory office for the library, related to their cycling community project "And Cycling Tokyo." This upcoming library will serve as a hub for local residents to engage, share, and connect through literature.

Background of the Initiative

Since May 2022, VOL Bicycle Plus One has been actively involved in nurturing a cycling community through events and gatherings. By focusing on community-building and city development through cycling, the company aims to broaden its reach and foster deeper connections within the locality. This library is envisioned to be a vibrant center where residents can share their love of books while engaging in meaningful exchanges and discussions.

What is a Shared Library?

A shared library operates differently from conventional libraries. Instead of being managed by a single organization, it is run by multiple shelf owners. Each owner maintains their own mini bookshelf filled with their choice of books. Visitors get the chance to experience the unique selections and personalities of each owner, creating an exciting and diverse literary environment.

Not just a place for silent reading, the shared library is designed for interaction. Visitors can engage in conversations, enjoy discussions, and develop relationships with bookshelf owners, making it a space that emphasizes connection and community.

We aim to gather over 20 enthusiastic participants who resonate with our vision and ethos to open the library by December 2025. Additionally, trial operations will occur twice a week to further engage and bring in support from the community.
