Kanagawa Celebrates Births with the 'Hajimete Bako' Initiative, Surpassing 100,000 Deliveries

The Success of the 'Hajimete Bako' Initiative in Kanagawa

In a remarkable effort to celebrate new births and support parents, the 'Hajimete Bako' initiative in Kanagawa Prefecture has achieved a major milestone, with over 100,000 special gift boxes delivered to families since its inception. This program, a collaborative effort between Palsystem Kanagawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, and TV Kanagawa (tvk), aims to acknowledge and support families with newborns through a thoughtful delivery of baby-related items.

A Joyful Celebration for Families

The 100,000th 'Hajimete Bako' was handed to Yuki Oka, a resident of Tsuzuki-ku in Yokohama, who expressed her joy at receiving the box filled with various useful items for childcare. Yuki had previously received a box at the birth of her first son, and she is grateful for the thoughtful and practical items included in the package. She shared, "Receiving such a beautiful box makes me feel special and excited to open it with my newborn."

Supporting New Arrivals Since 2020

Launched in January 2020, the 'Hajimete Bako' initiative was established to bless and support families with newborn children throughout the Kanagawa region. With the assistance of TV Kanagawa under the 'Kanagawa MIRAI Campaign', the initiative is committed to providing these boxes free of charge to eligible households, fostering a sense of community and gratitude among new parents.

Kanagawa Prefecture and Palsystem Kanagawa joined forces with a shared goal to express appreciation for each child's arrival in the area, emphasizing the importance of raising children in this vibrant community. To date, they have collectively celebrated the births of 100,000 infants with personalized messages and gifts.

A Unique Design and Useful Contents

The 'Hajimete Bako' features an original design inspired by the local scenery of Kanagawa, making it a cherished keepsake for parents. Not only does it serve as a beautiful storage box for precious childhood memories and toys, but it also includes vouchers and products provided by sponsoring companies that aid in parenting.

Moreover, families that receive the 'Hajimete Bako' are also informed about various support services, such as the 'Kanagawa Childcare Support Passport' and Palsystem Kanagawa's 'Kanagawa MIRAI Club'. These resources help enhance the parenting experience and ensure families have access to vital support services.

Members of the 'Kanagawa MIRAI Club' receive a variety of benefits, including monthly supply boxes containing baby food starter sets once their child reaches 5 months, as well as special gifts for birthdays. Additionally, parents can join member-exclusive LINE groups to stay informed about childcare events, workshops, and useful resources provided by Palsystem.

To further support families, Palsystem offers free delivery service fees until the child's first birthday under the 'Baby Benefit' program, making it easier for parents to access essential items during their child's early months.

A Commitment to Community Connections

Looking ahead, Palsystem Kanagawa is committed to continuing its collaborative efforts with various organizations as part of the 2025 International Year of Cooperatives. The organization believes in connecting people within the community to create stronger support networks for families raising children in Kanagawa.

As we celebrate the milestone of 100,000 'Hajimete Bako' deliveries, it is evident that such initiatives foster a sense of belonging and appreciation among families, making Kanagawa an enriching place for raising children. This celebration not only marks a significant achievement but also reinforces the commitment to nurturing future generations. Together, the commitment from local authorities, cooperatives, and media organizations is shaping a supportive environment for all families in Kanagawa.
