What’s New?


The new program is designed to enhance guest experience by providing a flexible rewards system, differing from the current Very Important Fun Person (VIFP)™ initiative. While the VIFP program has been successful over the years, President Christine Duffy acknowledged the growing number of loyal customers and the need for a more sophisticated system that adequately recognizes its diamond and platinum members.

The Carnival Rewards™ program will implement a dual-track point system, allowing guests to accumulate reward points that can be used for on-board purchases and qualification stars that determine membership levels. This innovative approach opens new pathways for travelers to earn rewards through both ticket sales and on-board spending, making it easier to climb the membership ranks.

Points Galore


Under Carnival Rewards, all eligible purchases made by travelers, including ticket costs and on-board expenditures, will be eligible for points accumulation. The program features a structured system with four prestigious statuses: Red, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Members will have a two-year earning period to collect qualifying stars, with a subsequent two-year grace period to maintain their membership tier. This structure ensures that guests can adapt to the new system while still enjoying their benefits.

Moreover, points accrued can be redeemed across almost all services available on Carnival Cruise Line’s ships—from spa treatments and specialty dining experiences to bookings for future voyages, allowing members to reap the rewards of their loyalty.

Transitioning to Carnival Rewards


The new program is pivotal for Carnival Cruise Line, and Duffy emphasizes their commitment to providing value for the loyal travelers who have been instrumental in the brand's growth. As the launch date of June 1, 2026 approaches, current members of the existing VIFP program will automatically transition to the new scheme, effectively preserving their existing status until May 31, 2028. Moreover, Diamond members will have the privilege of maintaining their rank for an impressive six years, with an extended validation until May 31, 2032.

In an exciting partnership, the new program will also align with a co-branded credit card, the Carnival Rewards Mastercard, offered in collaboration with Barclays US Consumer Bank.
