METLEN Energy & Metals PLC Reports Record-Breaking H1 2026 Financial Performance
In its first half financial results for 2026, METLEN Energy & Metals PLC has showcased a remarkable performance, marking a significant increase across all major financial indicators. The company recorded revenues of €3.987 billion, reflecting an impressive 11% rise from the €3.608 billion recorded during the same period in 2025. This surge in revenue is attributed to robust growth within the Energy Infrastructure and Concessions sectors.
Additionally, METLEN reported its EBITDA at a historic high of €550 million, up from €445 million in H1 2025. This boosted financial performance solidifies METLEN's strengthening position in the energy and metals industry, as it successfully navigates through market challenges.
The net profit after accounting for minority interests reached €313 million, compared to €254 million in H1 2025, with earnings per share increasing from €1.81 to €2.18. As such, the company has reaffirmed its EBITDA guidance for the year, projecting earnings between €1.00 and €1.15 billion, while maintaining a medium-term target of approximately €1.92 to €2.08 billion.
One pivotal factor contributing to this financial uplift has been the company 19s ability to cut its adjusted net debt by €728 million, leading to a reduction in net leverage from 3.1x to 1.7x at the end of the fiscal year 2025. Such financial maneuvering underscores the strength of METLEN's asset rotation model and disciplined capital allocation strategy.
Further underpinning its success, METLEN recently secured an off-take agreement for gallium production with a prominent U.S. tech firm, ensuring the sale of 25% of the company’s production. This strategic partnership is anticipated to de-risk both the alumina expansion and gallium production initiatives.
On the operational front, METLEN also made strides by energizing and operating around 0.4 GW of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across Greece and Italy, while simultaneously advancing another approximately 1.6 GW of projects in Southern and Southeastern Europe. At the same time, the company is effectively addressing three legacy contracts that previously resulted in less-than-ideal financial outcomes for 2025, with aims to wrap up the remaining work in the coming months despite some additional completion costs.
Evangelos Mytilineos, the Executive Chairman of METLEN, expressed confidence in the company's performance, emphasizing the successful alignment with the strategic objectives outlined at the Capital Markets Day in April 2025. He remarked, "Our strong performance in the first half of 2026 reflects our commitment to delivering on our business plan and demonstrates that the challenges faced in 2025 are being effectively tackled."
The company has exhibited resilience in the face of ongoing geopolitical uncertainties and trade tensions, leveraging its unique business model to secure crucial strategic partnerships, reinforcing its competitive position in international markets. Mytilineos added, "We remain dedicated to creating long-term sustainable value for our shareholders and stakeholders, focusing on consistently high performance standards."
