SHIBUYA WANDERING CRAFT 2026: An Immersive Experience
From August 22 to August 30, 2026, the
SHIBUYA WANDERING CRAFT 2026 event, under the theme of “Staying and Grounding Yourself”, will unfold at
Creative Space 8/, located on the 8th floor of the iconic
Shibuya Hikarie in Tokyo. This engaging experience will feature an array of colorful programs comprising exhibitions, workshops, and talk sessions, all centered around the idea of creating one’s personal space and interests in the bustling heart of Shibuya.
Overview of Events
The primary hub for
SHIBUYA WANDERING CRAFT 2026 will be the
8/COURT, where various events will be held daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Notably, on August 22, the artist duo
Rintaro Hara and Yu Hara will present an interactive art installation aptly titled “Children of Summer, Like Bees – Urban Children, Like Spheres!” Visitors can engage in creative activities, including a playful version of
Shibuya’s traditional backgammon and a unique sound-making game called
Marimba Ping Pong. This interactive experience is designed to attract families and friends to come together and enjoy the essence of Shibuya’s culture. Admission is free, promoting an inclusive environment for all.
Thought-Provoking Talk Event
In tandem with artistic showcases, a thought-provoking talk event titled “How to Cultivate a Connection with the Community” will occur on the evening of August 22. Guest speaker
Mitsuru Sato, the owner of
HIKE, will explore the evolving concepts of belonging and self-expression in modern living. This discussions aims to deepen participants' understanding of their personal spaces and the keywords “hospitality,” “travel,” and “community” as they relate to crafting one’s environment.
Hands-On Creativity
A workshop is set for August 23, inviting participants to create unique memories on hand-held fans. Under the guidance of artist
OJIYU, attendees will be encouraged to express their summer stories through vibrant designs, allowing creative energy to flow freely. This intimate session is available for ten participants only, ensuring a personalized, engaging experience.

Creative Space 8/ will host additional events throughout the festival:
- - Shibuya XX Bookstore will operate from August 22 to August 30, exploring travel-themed literature, coinciding with the event’s ethos. Updates will be available on their official social media accounts.
- - The d47MUSEUM will showcase the KUMAMOTO EXHIBITION, displaying the beauty of the Kumamoto region through local crafts and traditional items, complemented by authentic regional dishes from August 7.
- - The Bunkamura Gallery 8/ invites art lovers to the My Place, My Art exhibition from August 15 to August 30, gathering works from 29 different artists, each reflecting on personal spaces through art.
- - d47 Shokudo presents traditional dishes using funazushi from Shiga, available until September 3, enhancing the connection to local gastronomic culture.
