Greater Allen AME Cathedral of New York Marks 40 Years of Community Service with Turkey Giveaway

Celebrating 40 Years of Feeding the Multitude at Greater Allen AME Cathedral

This holiday season, the Greater Allen AME Cathedral of New York (GAC) commemorates a significant milestone: 40 years of its cherished program, the Feeding of the Multitude. This time-honored tradition will see over 1,000 turkeys distributed to local families in need, continuing the Cathedral's vital mission of addressing food insecurity in the community.

On November 23, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, families can come to the Cathedral's Jamaica location at 110-31 Floyd H. Flake Blvd., formerly Merrick Blvd., Jamaica, New York, to receive their turkeys. This event not only provides nourishment but also fosters a sense of unity and celebration during the Thanksgiving season.

Pastor Rev. Stephen A. Green, who has been a guiding force behind these initiatives, expresses deep gratitude for the ability to share love and kindness during this season of thanks. He emphasizes the strength of community, stating, "As we face challenging moments ahead, the power of community will be our strength. Together, we can bring joy and comfort to those who need it most."

In addition to the turkey giveaway, GAC is also organizing a Thanksgiving Day Brunch on November 28, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This free event is open to everyone and will provide warm meals, fellowship, and an opportunity to celebrate gratitude together. Interested guests are encouraged to register online.

The mission of the Greater Allen AME Cathedral goes beyond just serving meals; it seeks to uplift and empower the local community by transforming lives through faith, service, and outreach. For nearly two centuries, the Cathedral has been a pillar in Jamaica, Queens, addressing pressing issues such as food insecurity, and promoting education and social equity.

As the Cathedral continues these traditions, it firmly upholds the belief that the holidays should be a time for community spirit and sharing. Both the turkey giveaway and the Thanksgiving brunch reflect the Cathedral's ongoing commitment to serve and support families in its locality.
