EDGNEX Data Centers Expands Global Footprint with Hyperco Acquisition

EDGNEX Data Centers Strengthens its Position with Hyperco Acquisition

On March 31, 2025, EDGNEX Data Centers by DAMAC confirmed their strategic acquisition of Hyperco, a prominent Finnish data center company. This significant acquisition is part of EDGNEX’s ambitious plan to expand both in Europe and globally. With this move, the company aims to enhance its European market presence and contribute positively to the region's economic development and infrastructure evolution.

EDGNEX Data Centers, rooted in Dubai, has set forth a vision to provide cutting-edge and sustainable digital infrastructure. Acquiring Hyperco is a testament to their commitment to this vision. By integrating Hyperco’s operations, primarily based in Finland and Sweden, EDGNEX plans to leverage the area’s access to sustainable energy resources, established digital ecosystems, and robust connectivity.

The founders of Hyperco will maintain their leadership roles, driving the company forward into the next phase of its growth strategy. Hussain Sajwani, the founder of DAMAC Group, expressed that this acquisition aligns seamlessly with their vision for forming strong alliances and building scalable, elite digital infrastructure.

“Hyperco comes with an excellent team, extensive market insight, and a shared dedication to innovation, which will be pivotal for our success in the region,” Sajwani commented. “Our goal is to develop significant future capacities in the Nordic countries and solidify our market presence.”

Aleksi Taipale, co-founder and CEO of Hyperco, described the acquisition as an exciting new chapter for their company. Collaboration with EDGNEX and DAMAC Group accelerates their mission of providing sustainable, large-scale data center infrastructure tailor-made for hyper-scalers and AI-driven workloads. He highlighted their operational foundation in Finland and Sweden, emphasizing their access to low-carbon energy and a focus on future scalability, positioning them well to meet the growing digital demands of the region.

EDGNEX, since its inception in 2021, has swiftly established a global presence. Backed by over 100 seasoned professionals, the company anticipates delivering 55 MW of capacity in the Middle East by 2025, with plans for a global capacity exceeding 3,000 MW. Their aspiration is to achieve operational capacity of over 300 MW by 2026, supported by a strong investment portfolio exceeding $3 billion, targeting key Southeast Asian markets.

Recent European initiatives from EDGNEX include a joint venture worth €150 million in Greece with Public Power Corporation (PPC) aimed at developing up to 25 MW and a commitment of €400 million to construct a 40 MW data center in Madrid, Spain. Earlier this year, the company also announced a substantial foreign investment of $20 billion to develop state-of-the-art data centers in the United States.
