CARTA HD Expands Support for Male Employees Facing Menopause Issues

In a progressive move, CARTA HOLDINGS, a Tokyo-based firm, is broadening its employee support framework to include male workers. This significant change is aligned with the upcoming World Menopause Day on October 18. Traditionally, CARTA HD's focus has been on women through its program for menopause herbal medication, but with growing awareness regarding male menopause, or LOH syndrome, the company acknowledges that all employees should have access to this necessary support.

Recent findings from Japan's Ministry of Economy highlight that male menopause-related issues can lead to staggering annual economic losses of approximately 1.2 trillion yen. Such numbers underscore the importance of viewing menopause as a comprehensive health concern, one that affects both genders. Consequently, the Japanese government is increasingly focusing on this aspect within its economic and reform policies, revealing a societal shift towards acknowledging and addressing menopause comprehensively.

Launched in February 2025, CARTA HD's initiative initially covered female employees' expenses for menopause herbal medication, which was wholly sponsored by the company. By extending this support to male employees, CARTA HD aims to foster a healthier work environment that prioritizes wellness for everyone. Acknowledging that a supportive workplace promotes job satisfaction, CARTA HD strives to create an atmosphere where all employees can experience professional growth and personal well-being.

The genesis of CARTA HD's commitment to well-being began with a Diversity and Inclusion project called "WAVE," initiated in 2022. The first measure that was implemented as part of this initiative was a low-dose pill support program introduced in May 2022. Following this, a second measure addressing menopause symptoms for women was launched in early 2025. This extended support comes after understanding the financial impact of women's menopause symptoms, which was estimated at around 1.9 trillion yen annually according to the Ministry of Economy. It is also noteworthy that women constitute 45.7% of the CARTA Group workforce, with about 15.2% of managerial roles filled by women in their 40s and 50s.

Both the low-dose pill support program and the menopause herbal medication support are provided through Mederi, a company specializing in health support services, ensuring that CARTA HD employees have access to comprehensive resources. As it broadens support to encompass male employees, CARTA HD will continue its partnership with this health support service.

According to Rika Kajiwara, Chief Sustainability Officer of CARTA HD, the initiative to include all employees in the menopause support program reflects the company's objective to foster an inclusive environment where everyone can achieve optimal health and efficiency. The financial implications of unaddressed male menopause issues are substantial, constituting a critical challenge for businesses. Moreover, many individuals may not even recognize that they are experiencing these symptoms. Therefore, CARTA HD aims to promote awareness and open dialogue concerning menopause and health challenges within the company, ensuring that employees feel supported as they navigate these issues.

CARTA HD’s commitment to sustainability revolves around the health and well-being of its employees, facilitating a work environment where all can thrive. The company is dedicated to ensuring every employee feels safe and comfortable in their workplace, which is crucial for both individual and corporate growth. They aim to continually adapt their policies to meet the needs of their workforce while contributing positively to the broader dialogue around menopause and health in the corporate sector.

In conclusion, CARTA HOLDINGS is setting a new standard for corporate welfare by implementing comprehensive support for menopause, transcending gender-specific barriers. This holistic approach reinforces the company's cultural values and establishes a path towards healthier work dynamics for all employees.
