Sumikko Gurashi Takes Over Aqua World Oarai This Summer

Get ready for an exciting summer at Aqua World Oarai as the beloved characters of Sumikko Gurashi return for the fourth consecutive year! From July 16 to September 23, 2026, the aquarium will host a collaborative event that promises fun-filled activities and special exhibitions highlighting the adorable Sumikko Gurashi character lineup.

A Special Exhibition: The Tail Tales

This year's exhibition features the newly formed unit "Shippos," consisting of Ebi-furai no Shippo, Aji-furai no Shippo, and Ebi-ten no Shippo. Visitors will have the chance to learn about the unique tails of various sea creatures like sharks, dolphins, and otters. This educational yet entertaining event invites guests to discover the fascinating world of marine animals through the lens of the Sumikko Gurashi characters.

Quiz Rally: Explore the Wonders of Aqua World

Join the interactive quiz rally, where participants can roam around the aquarium, collecting hints from Sumikko Gurashi characters. Challenge yourself with an array of marine life questions!

Goal: Each participant will receive a random “Funi Funi Badge” (three designs available) upon completion.

Cost: 500 yen (tax included)
How to Join: Purchase participation tickets at the vending machine located at the Information Counter on the 3rd floor and pick up your rally booklet.

Exclusive Collaborative Merchandise

Don't miss out on the adorable, limited-edition collaborative merchandise available only at Aqua World Oarai! Stop by the souvenir shop “Moramora” to grab unique items, such as:

• - Acrylic Carabiners (6 types) - 600 yen (random selection)

Date with the Shippos – Photo Session

On September 12, 2026, the Shippos will make a special appearance at Aqua World Oarai! Capture memorable moments as you take photos with your favorite Shippos!

Schedule: 10:30 AM, 11:10 AM, 11:50 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:20 PM, 2:00 PM
Location: Shark Daddy's Room, 3rd Floor
Participants: Up to 40 groups, each group can include 6 people. Character appearances are random per session.

Participation Guidelines: Ensure to purchase admission for every guest. Each group can take one picture which will be captured by our staff. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 9 AM.

Special Edition Annual Passports

Celebrate this collaboration by purchasing the limited-time design annual passport, allowing unlimited access for one year to Aqua World Oarai.

Price: Adults 4,600 yen, Elementary & Middle School Students 2,200 yen, Toddlers (3 years and older) 800 yen
