For example, the upper limit for white blood cell counts was found to decrease from 15.17 x 10^9/L in infants under six months to 10.71 x 10^9/L in adolescents aged 12-19. Notably, counts of neutrophils gradually increased as children grew, while platelet counts displayed a gradual decrease, underscoring the dynamic nature of pediatric hematology.
This vital study also shed light on red blood cell parameters, observing that these increase throughout childhood, with notable differences emerging typically post-puberty.
