CloudM Launches Continuity for Instant Recovery During M365 Outages

CloudM's New Service: Continuity

In a landscape where digital disruptions can cost businesses significantly, CloudM has introduced a timely solution: CloudM Continuity. This innovative Software as a Service (SaaS) product specifically targets the growing problem of frequent outages experienced by Microsoft 365 users, a scenario increasingly termed as “outage fatigue.” With last year's incidents alone resulting in numerous major outages totaling 94 hours, impacting nearly 850 million global users, the stakes for businesses are undeniably high.

The financial ramifications for affected sectors, particularly those regulated by governmental and industry standards such as finance, healthcare, and the justice system, are daunting. These sectors face an average impact of over $100,000 per hour during outages, which can escalate to losses exceeding $5 million in high-risk industries like energy or finance. Cumulatively, downtime across the Global 2000 translates into an annual loss potential reaching as much as $400 billion. Furthermore, as mandated by the newly implemented Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) in the EU, organizations must restore critical operations within two hours of a service disruption, placing additional legal pressure on businesses.

CloudM Continuity emerges as a critical lifeline for businesses facing such challenges. Unlike traditional backup solutions that focus on long recovery times, which can range from 24 to 48 hours, CloudM Continuity offers real-time operational resilience. This unique service operates through a continuous resilience loop comprising three steps:

1. Data Mirroring: The service starts by mirroring Microsoft 365 data—including emails, calendars, and contacts—into a live Google Workspace environment. This syncing occurs at adjustable intervals, from once a week to every hour, ensuring the most current data is readily available.

2. Immediate Transition: Upon experiencing an outage, users can seamlessly switch to their “hot seat” in Google Workspace without needing complex recovery scripts or manual restorations, thus maintaining business continuity effortlessly.

3. Automated Reverse Recovery: Once Microsoft services are restored, CloudM Continuity automatically pushes any new data created during the outage back to the M365 environment. This ensures that no data is lost during the disruption, further safeguarding the integrity of business operations.

As Donna Torres, CEO of CloudM, explains, “We developed CloudM Continuity for that dreaded moment IT leaders experience when they're notified at 9 AM that Microsoft is down, halting operations. Our solution is straightforward: your business doesn’t stop; it simply shifts gears.”
