Orthopedic Care Partners Welcomes Ed Tufaro as New President and COO
Orthopedic Care Partners (OCP), a prominent name in orthopedic practice management, has appointed Ed Tufaro as its new President and Chief Operating Officer. This strategic move signals OCP’s commitment to enhancing its operational framework while continuing to support its network of outstanding healthcare professionals.
Set to join the organization in January 2025, Ed brings with him a wealth of experience in the orthopedic field. His previous role as CEO at Rothman Orthopaedics Institute involved supervising over 40 locations and more than 200 physicians. Under his leadership, Rothman achieved notable operational and financial success, including implementation of a major restructuring that led to their best financial results in several years.
Prior to his tenure at Rothman, Ed honed his leadership skills at the Memorial Hermann Health System. His role there involved transforming musculoskeletal services across the system, where his initiatives led to significant improvements such as a reduction in surgical site infections and an increase in patient satisfaction scores. Notably, his efforts decreased surgical site infections from 2.4% to 0.56% within a mere 18 months.
Ed's educational background further complements his leadership capabilities; he obtained his MBA from the prestigious Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and holds a BA from Princeton University. This robust experience makes him uniquely qualified to lead OCP into its next growth phase.
Dr. Philippon, managing partner at The Steadman Clinic and an affiliate partner of OCP, expressed enthusiasm about Ed joining the team. He emphasized Ed’s proven track record as a driven healthcare executive, stating, “His expertise will enable us to continue executing our growth plans while upholding our commitment to top-tier patient-focused care.”
Dr. Tim Corvino, CEO of Orthopedic Care Partners, also shared his excitement over Ed's addition to the leadership team. “This is a pivotal moment for our organization. Ed’s leadership will be crucial in our practice integration efforts, fostering a culture of excellence, and driving impactful growth that improves patient care across all OCP locations.”
OCP currently operates in five states, managing 42 clinical locations and six ambulatory surgery centers. With Ed’s arrival, the organization is poised to enhance its capacity to smoothly incorporate new partners into its already robust network, ensuring excellent healthcare delivery in orthopedic surgery practices.
