AOFAS Annual Meeting 2025: Pioneering Innovations in Orthopaedics Recognized
The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) held its Annual Meeting from September 10-13, 2025, in Savannah, Georgia, with a significant turnout of more than 1,100 foot and ankle specialists, including surgeons, advanced health practitioners, residents, and medical students. Mann Award was given for the best clinical paper titled "Enhancing the Progressive Collapsing Foot Deformity (PCFD) Classification System Through the Establishment of Defined Radiographic Cut-Off Threshold Values for the Different Deformity Classes." This pioneering research was led by a team including Dr. Rebekah Belayneh and several colleagues, demonstrating significant advancements in understanding foot deformities.
Another key award was the 2025 J. Leonard Goldner Award, which acknowledged outstanding basic science research. This award recognized the work titled "Metabolic Activity at the Bone-Implant Interface Following Total Ankle Replacement: A Two-Year Cross-Sectional Study of Asymptomatic Patients Evaluated With 18F-NaF Positron Emission Tomography," authored by Dr. Elizabeth Cody and co-investigators.

On the final day, Dr. Sheldon S. Lin was inaugurated as the President of the AOFAS Board of Directors for the 2025-26 term.
