Wang Feng of Linglong Tire Discusses Carbon Neutrality Goals at COP30

Lisong Feng's Speech at COP30

On November 10, during the parallel event titled 'Ecological Civilization and Beautiful Practices of China' held at China Pavilion at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, the nation showcased its achievements in ecological civilization to the international community. Wang Feng, the president of Linglong Tire, was invited to deliver a keynote speech where he shared the company's practices and commitments to low-carbon development.

Linglong Tire is committed to reaching its carbon emissions peak by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, notably ten years ahead of the milestones set out in the Paris Agreement. This ambitious goal reflects China’s broader commitment to green industrial transition.

The company has established a clear implementation plan for carbon neutrality, systematically advancing emission reductions through energy utilization, the research and development of sustainable tires, and supply chain management. Specifically, Linglong aims to reduce carbon emissions by 52.07% by 2035 and to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

To promote ecological transformation, Linglong operates through five key dimensions: new materials, technologies, processes, equipment, and energy solutions. A significant development is the launch of the world's first tire composed of 79% sustainable materials, which adheres to the highest performance standards of the EU. The company plans to increase this ratio to 85% by 2028 and to entirely switch to sustainable materials by 2040. The innovative efforts include the incorporation of bio-sourced materials such as rice husk ash silica and corn-based itaconic rubber to replace traditional petroleum-based raw materials, with some materials potentially reducing carbon emissions by 35%.

Technologically, Linglong's energy-efficient tire, the SPORT MASTER e, integrates award-winning core technologies such as steady-state BPT pressure to optimize ground pressure distribution.

Linglong also commits to creating an ecological ecosystem throughout its entire industrial chain. As the first tire manufacturer from mainland China to adhere to the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR), the company actively promotes transparency and compliance within its supply chain. Through certified FSC sustainable natural rubber projects, Linglong extends its environmental responsibility to the raw material stage, ensuring sustainable forest management, leading up to tire production.

In terms of resource recycling, Linglong operates recycled rubber workshops and encourages the use of liquid recycled rubber and carbon black derived from pyrolysis. This initiative effectively addresses the environmental pressure caused by used tires and establishes a closed-loop resource cycle.

Wang Feng emphasized that Linglong's roadmap towards its dual carbon goals signifies not only a commitment to environmental protection but also a revolution in production efficiency and value. The company will continue to innovate, providing high-quality green tire solutions to users worldwide. Linglong is ready to collaborate with all parties to build a clean and beautiful world through concrete actions.
